Coming back after years...nub questions

Hi everyone. Im coming back afer sometime. Bought the expansion and want to start leveling a DKR. There are just some questions i have about how the game has changed, if u guys could help me it would be great:
- Do people still level alts by grinding fates in groups?
- Can Palace of the Dead be used to level alts?
- People still do hunts?

Some still do, but not as many as before, because...

- Can Palace of the Dead be used to level alts?

... yes, it can and is used quite a bit for that.

- People still do hunts?

Sure, but it isn't really a "thing". Most hunt targets are easy these days due to everyone being higher level with better equipment, and the rewards from hunts are not all that impressive any more.

On Leviathan I see a Party Finder listing for FATEs and Hunt at least once each every day, but that's about it now.

Sometimes, but dungeons and PotD both seem to be more popular. (Personally, dungeons are my favorite leveling method when I'm out of quests. That's been the case ever since the XP for them was buffed to exceed that of FATE grinding. PotD also gives good XP apparently, but IMO isn't as interesting.)

- People still do hunts?

It's been rather quiet for them since FFXV came out, but should be picking up some as more people finish or take a break from that game to come back to this one. It helps to be in a few hunt focused linkshells, so you know when others are hunting and can let them know when you are.

I could invite you to a couple if we happen to be online at the same time, but I'm still mostly focused on FFXV myself right now, so have been only briefly and occasionally logging into FFXIV. (Last time I was on, though, there was an S rank that took quite a while to gather enough people to take it on. That's something that I'd never seen happen before FFXV's release. Usually, we have lots of people gather for S ranks. Sometimes A ranks will go unclaimed for a while, but you can usually find a few people for them, too. And hunt trains going through several of them happen semi-regularly.)

Regarding FATEs, the relative xp for fates after level 50 is very low but up until 50 it is still very viable.
