I like a lot of things, but the community is the biggest one. I know it varies from server to server, but I honestly have never felt so welcome as a new player before (First MMO, First PC game). If I KOed on fates, a passing SCH/WHM would throw a res. I made the mistake of using a Fire II on a mob in Central Thanalan, and ran screaming while wasps tried to murder me, some random Monk ran over and killed them before I died. And my first run of Satasha I got this really sweet PLD that walked me through how dungeons work, and the bosses and everything (I now know this is not typical behavior, and usually you get speedrun tanks that ignore everyone because Satasha is so easy and no one seems to like it lol).

Anyway, it left an impression, and I've since made a lot of good friends through this game.

Been here since the beta on 2.0, and i knew the game way before... Despite i wanted to play, i didnt had a good pc at the time. There are a few things i dont like of the game and we could make a different thread about it, but things i like?

-Story.

I know the first part can be a bit heavy, or meaningless in some way some of the quests. But looking at them now, i know they have sense and value in the grouth of the character. An example would be the quests before facing Titan... Running around gathering ingredients, doing chores... And for what? The NPC wanted to teach to the WoL to enjoy life more often. You have your duties, you sacrifice for other, but they teach you to travel and look around... to enjoy life and the pleasures it gives.

I dont know why someone could play a game to skip all this without reading what they are fighting for, really.

And the feels...

-Graphics, music, etc.

The lighting effects are awesome, the music is... Well, it was good, and has moved to the better in the recent/past updates. With the new PC we can make they could release a HD texture pack or something to resemble 1.0 :P But thats a personal opinion on the matter. Overall, it's not that bad.

(And seriously, do you even look for imperfections in the mid of a fight?)

-NPC.

Well... there has been lot of talking in the forums about this matter. Like the Scions being... I dont know the word now, just woke up a while ago ¬_¬ lets just say they werent interesting at the eyes of some players, i dont know if i am talking of a huge population of the playerbase or not. They have added depth to them, you can read the emotions each time they talk, they move... An expample would be the voice of a certain companion in the lastest mission of the Warrios of Darkness. You can feel the pain in hi/her* voice while talking, about WHY he/she did those things.

The npc didnt bother me at the start, but right no? i want to know MORE about them.

Overall, there are a lot of things that i like of the game. There are a few points i dislike like i said, but... I enjoy playing it. Sometime i wished i could restart it and play without knowing what i could encounter in the next scenario, or the next patch being so huge that it gave me months of playtime.

It has been a good journey, so far.

As for whats good? Well I returned almost a month ago and I do love the comfy atmosphere in the game. Played WoW for a while, but its just not as comfy to spend time in. I feel like WoW forgets to have fun with the quests and other activities. The soundtrack in FFXIV really made me think why most other games have awful soundtracks. Final Fantasy soundtracks aren't as good as many make them out to be, but they do have an actual soundtrack. Not just non-confrontational ambient music. There are actual songs, lyrics, proper pieces of music that are both memorable and fun to listen to.
Too many games just have that boring, forgettable backround music that I end up turning off overtime.

Yeah i enjoy FF music in general, but a big part of that is its beautiful simplicity. With the legion pre event when you did the broken shore scenario and you come back to Stormwind there is that kinda nice playing music on the airship and as you travel to Anduin. So I was like "wow a theme in wow that might get my attention again!?" So i found out that it was Anduins theme...which is a gd 20 ish min long score XD

As to what i like: The story....holy s**t do I like the story. I know its not perfect etc but it is awesome for an MMO, and its nice to have it all happen and be in game. (looking a you wow!) I like the "feel" of the game...you can lounge around in it without feeling like you should be doing other things. The awesome community, yeah i know there are some bad apples etc, but overall the community is incredibly friendly without being just dull. The gameplay, I have issues with some of the gameplay at start specially past your fist class and you have the grind left only, but come lvl 40+ it just starts to feel very good for me and the pacing I personally enjoy. )I like my rpgs to still feel a bit old schoolish so shoot me :P) the Dev team, ive been playing ff 14 since 1.0 and I was about to quit when I heard Yoshi-P took over and some of his thoughts on the direction of the project, so I decided to stick around. I know some ppl disagree with the direction the devs go at times and thats ok. That said imo a good dev team is one that can also say no and stick to their design and this makes me wanna see their vision come into being even more as time passes.

See, I'm kind of backwards. A lot of things people complain about, I enjoy. A 'put-a-railroad spike-though-my-skull' grind for someone else is my paradise. The unpredictability and chaos that is known as duty finder is what I call fun. Having to do 100 MSQs between 2.0 and 3.0? Thank youuuuu! I love how these things constantly keep me stimulated and logging on for more.

All the little details like how my earrings sway when I turn my head and watching the sun set in the south shroud. The backgrounds and music will stay with me forever. There are many fun fights with Thornmarch, Diabolos, and Gobmachine VI being some of my favorites so far, and some dungeons are so gorgeous, you need to go back unsynced to really take them in.

I really enjoy the crafting and gathering systems, and it is where I spend most of my time. I enjoy growing thavnairian onions for the community.

I could on and on with what I love about this game, but most of all I love my character and her chocobo. I've come so far, yet there is still so much to do!

- Graphics are mazing, I wouldn't mind taking a break just to walk around.

You know I do my best to always stay positive in the game. Even if I'm having a bad raid run, and I complain I try to find something positive in it such as maybe I just need to work harder. I always try to be that one positive light for my FC by helping out. Finding the good in things, and setting an example by keeping any negativity to myself. I'm here to have fun, that is the main thing, and I want everyone else around me to have fun as well. Everyone has a bad day, and I don't see a reason to make their day even worse. Be it in a dungeon where a players having some rotten luck, or someone in the FC is venting. In addition to that I always thank everyone regardless of what it is. I see every dungeon, raid, hunt or group I join as an privilege, not a right, and I appreciate the opportunity they've given me. Most importantly I've found if you play for fun, and the story everything else is just an epic bonus so I'm not stressing about getting gear.
