    [PS4] Unable to download patch files. [20152][25008][20495]

    I get it. This is an old issue. Still, some of you have managed to overcome it and, frankly, I'm getting desperate - because I have not.

    I managed to get past the issue on my PC through determination coupled with a VPN, but trying to get my wife's account up and running on the PS4 is like trying to bash through a brick wall with my own forehead. It's painful.

    Things I have done/tried:

    Forwarded ports. A pain in the ass with AT&T U-Verse, but I did it. At least, I think I did?
    Swapped around DNS. Cycled through a whole variety of open DNS.
    Ethernet/Wifi. Tried both.
    VPN. Tried to run my internet through a VPN on my PC and then route the connection to my PST via a wifi adapter, but I probably screwed it up because my PS4 couldn't even connect to PSN when routed as such.

    I've contacted Square Enix several times, and finally got them to chat with me. The one tech support guy told me that after a traceroute the connection was timing out somewhere between me and the patch server. He told me the ports to open up and then suggested I talk to AT&T about "altering my router's algorithm" or something.

    Best thing about U-Verse? The tech support is dumb as a box of rocks and they keep wanting to shunt you to a paid service, which wants to charge exorbitant fees for "advanced" support. Screw that.

    We might be rehashing the wheel here, but I've been troubleshooting this for the last two weeks almost straight. I need some fresh eyes. Maybe I missed something.


    P.S. Screw you, Square Enix, for designing a patching system that's this borked up.

    Do you have a friend that would let you take your PS4 to their place and leech off their network? With an incompetent and/or uncaring ISP, that's about where you get stuck in these cases.

    The only other provider in the area is Comcast, so that's a possible solution, but I don't know anyone in the area, much less anyone with an internet connection.

    It might maybe help if I knew what to instruct my ISP to do... but I don't even really know what the problem is, not specifically.

    FWIW, I have Comcast and haven't had that problem. I have a decades-old hatred for AT&T, so I'd have to have literally no other choice in order to choose them. Comcast is horrific if you need customer service, but usually you don't, and things just work.

    Welp, my buddy is having this issue, and he uses Comcast as his ISP. And he's also using the demo version.

    I had this problem, and I have Google Fiber. Thankfully, the DNS trick worked for me.

    And I mean, we tried EVERYTHING (except for the VPN, due to him not owning a PC). He's going to take his system over to his friends to try but...not holding my breath.

    Best part, I saw a thread with this very same issue in the "Resolved" forum. Scroll down in THIS forum, however, and you'll see this issue at least three more times. Yet, those with latency issues get stickied at the top of the list.

    Bravo, guys. Way to resolve this.

    Oh i would say there is over 3 threads, i was the first to bring up the fact that one of the threads (with some possible fixes from a player) is in the resolved section.
    I guess they figure a player resolved their own issue so it should be filled under resolved ....
