So you guys take information provided by SE- with a grain of salt? Interesting.

What I have shown you is reality. What you remember, that is the illusion.
So we are going to be beta-testing this game for a year AND paying a fee on top of that? Holy moly.
I don't know grandm...I'm having second thoughts here.
don't be silly. you are not open to second thoughts. (the first was hard enough :P)
beta testing? why because we give feedback and changes are made? an MMO is a living, breathing, changing thing. in FF11 how many different changes were made to dragoon over the years the nerfs and the balances? did any1 ever complain that that was a beta for the last 10 years, because it kept changing?
(but then again what would i know about FF11 eh?)

You're talking about small changes.
This change is on a much bigger scale...It's completely revamped gameplay.
And we're not paying to test it. We're getting billed after we've had a flavor of it and decide if it's good for us or not. I'm sick and tired of "beta" being such a hot word to use.
i think we have derailed this thread enough. we are always going to disagree i guess.
i feel sorry for you. playing a game you clearly don't like. anyway i'll be more than happy to talk/argue with you about all aspects of the patch after we have played it, who knows maybe i'll agree with you after i play it

To say it's a beta excuses it for what it really is: A game that can never live up to its full potential without a completely replaced client-server application.
If we were actually testing 2.0, then we could call it a beta. What we have now doesn't really have a name for it. It's never been done before as far as I know. But I'd still say we were testing concepts for the future direction of the game.

No comment, apparently logic is not needed in this thread. When it comes to talking about Final Fantasy, actual game mechanics, their balance and substance is hardly relevant. All that matters is whether we have our stable Paralyze and Slow spells regardless of utility and importance from a gameplay perspective.
Older games had them, this game must have them. Period. Everything else is unimportant.
