Yeah Benediction cooldown is long but it is probably because it is a 100% HP heal. Lightspeed cooldown isn't as long but it doesn't last for more than a few casts.

If tank loses aggro then that isn't your fault unless you are overhealing so it isn't really a situation you can compare.

AST can do pretty high DPS as well once you have Gravity, Malefic II, and Combust II etc at higher levels.

I'm a WHM at heart but frequently on AST or SCH for most content. WHM still gets brought out for PVP though as I just strongly prefer having the extra control there. Go with whichever is exciting you the most!

As for levelling, I don't have every job at 60 but I have quite a few and I haven't ever set foot in levelling roulette other than to help people; I hate being synced all the time and being unable to use new skills. I just lazily do a few challenge logs and mix up levequests and the odd FATE. It goes pretty quickly, then later on you have beast quests and hunts to pad things out.

I played Whm since ffxi, and recently found myself getting into Ast and honestly? Just play what you like. You may feel like switching back to Whm someday, and if that happens, just do it!

I think what it is , is that astro gets so many nice skill so early on in comparison , and they dont really get their damage attacks until later like the ones u mention where as whm is more complete level 60 plus content, like u dont get ur aoe heal until 50. But I def can see me doing the harder content with astro because of the mobility I love presence of mind , but u still have to stand in the same spot and it can be interrupted

Well, Di Astro is pretty much just a WHM with better party support. Beside that they are similar, so it shouldn't be too bad switching between the two. With most of WHM's skills there is also some kind of equivalent or if not, a compensation that Astro has access to to even it up.

Play Astro, have fun and just switch to WHM whenever you're in the mood. You do not need to stop playing WHM, especially when you can already semi play one as a Di Astro.

I feel ya OP. Ran as a SCH for all of 2.0 and decided to try the new healer job when HW came out. Fell in love with it, and play it 99% of the time. The cards help to keep my attention during runs. End of the day, you be you, but welcome to the AST side.

How??? I have tons of quests all over the place, still haven't finished the MSQ, and have most jobs at 60. There's plenty for me to level up from through questing. But then again, my choco is at 20, and not through having other people feed him. It's all about how you play.

And OP, I go back and forth between my main Whm and my Ast. Ast just can't compare to my Whm, it never does in any content. Switch back and forth. I switched from Drg as my main when they kept nerfing Whm >.> so yeah, just switch back and forth.

I switched from WHM to AST as my primary healing job - but not because I thought AST was better. I just found it to be more interesting to play. Both jobs are perfectly fine; they excel in different areas and it's not really fair to compare specific abilities to make a judgment. You have to consider the whole package. Play whichever one you want to play; don't waste time trying to figure out which is "better".

As was stated, if you can spare the time for it, it's best to have both available. They share almost all of the gear that they use, and by having both you'll be prepared for cases when a WHM is more appropriate to use, and other cases when an AST would be better.

Switching mains can be hard I know. You want to play another job but you don't want to feel like you're abandoning your first job. It's a tough decision, even knowing that you can go back to the previous job at any time.

I say just go for whatever you have more fun with. Overtime you'll get over your main enough to not think about it after every run.

So have you guys ever had to admit u where better at one class and switch ur main class are did u just stick with ur main because u where already attached to the class. Just wondering everyone's thoughts on this.
I used to main BRD before 3.4 after that I switched to MCH.
I did this because I want to main ranged jobs BRD/MCH. Also, I want to be flexible with my static.

Reason I main MCH: I hardly ever see any good MCH around, same goes for BRD. But the reason I switch to MCH from BRD was because I've always admired them, the guns, their iL200 set is just too good. Each time I ended up with a MCH in party my eyes couldn't leave them. I leveled the job and enjoyed its' play-style then decided to main it over BRD.
