No FFXV launch event? Really?

Did Yoshi not say that he wants the players to play XV for a while before launching the even or something? Or was it just a rumor?

That's exactly what he said.

If they wait for people to play XV before any event in XIV, does this mean an event might actually spoil XV? I think I could play XV, but at least not before a few months. (Don't tell me a game/movie/series should be played or seen within the hours/days past its release!)
