More details? You can change lodestone settings and they can't look up who u are lol. Unless you write your name etc. On lodestone and make it publicI've been asking for a privacy mode for a while now. It's a little creepy that strangers can look at who you are and what you're doing without any established relationship (friends, members of the same FC or Linkshell, etc). Even your lodestone information. I've had both abused by RMT numerous times over the years, and only seen it used legitimately maybe once. I'd rather play with a little more security and privacy some filters would be nice, SE!
Tia I really don't understand why you're fighting this so hard. You're literally the only person in this thread that's against it and I cant understand your arguments enough to figure out why.
Let me try and break this down for you, to give you a little bit of information.
On the RMT issue:
There are different kinds of RMT bots, but they are each programmed to do a specific thing. They cant all be omni-bots as that would require too much code and risk the code bugging out. Therefore each bot only focuses on one task at a time.
- You have your farming bots. These are the piles of archers/blm that pop up, blast every enemy nearby, then teleport to a different location. This is all they do. They wipe out hordes of enemies to gather tons and tons of loot/mats to sell on the mb.
- You have your /say bots. These are the bots that stand in front of the MB and constantly advertise in /say. Annoying, but less harmful than the rest.
I understand that you may not experience much spam from them, but I can ASSURE YOU that this varies from server to server. On my server I still get several /tells a day. And yes, you CAN report and blacklist them, but it isn't the 'instant fix' you make it out to be. When the /tells I get are from 10-12 different rmt bots, it's still a hassle and its an issue that shouldn't exist.
- Then you have your advertising bots. These are bots that stand in one location and go through the Player Search System list, one person at a time, and send them /tells (or lately, send out party invites..) This is the one being talked about in this thread.
This can be fixed by having my name removed from the player search system (using the incognito status), eliminating the bots method of finding me.
Yes they can still use the Lodestone, but that wont be very efficient for them as they would have no way of knowing if I was online.

And honestly I don't understand your whole "This would be bad for new players!" Honestly the new players don't usually even know what the Player Search System is, or how to use it.
This status would be MORE beneficial than busy status. With busy ticked on, they can see you run by, but have ABSOLUTELY NO WAY TO TALK TO YOU, AT ALL. So they cant ask a question, or ask for help at all.
With this status they could still send you a /tell if they see you. Seems to actually be more beneficial to new players than the busy status, no?
The only difference between this status and the busy status, is that your name wont appear in the Player Search. Whereas with Busy status, it appears in the list but they have no way to actually contact you anyway.
-This is an improvement on the busy status-
Please, respond. Tell me your views on this so I can take the time to decipher your posts and try and figure out -exactly- why you're the only person on these forums against this obvious improvement.
