Our only other option now is busy, which blocks ALL of the tells anyway. So your argument isnt really valid either. You cant say it'd be bad if new players couldnt send people /tells, but its ok for people to use the busy status, which STILL stops the new players from sending them tells.
Find a different argument, cause your current one doesnt work.
Its valid since players most of the time dont use busy status cause they CANT receive /tells from friends if they could turn it on and still receive not only would it defeat the purpose of /busy but also more ppl would turn it on. I dont even know what the problem is if its all about that rmt tells you may want to look for a solution for rmt tells and not change the /busy option. I played on OPs server since 2014 and right now I dont get any rmt tells on that server either only the ones in /say chat. Our only other option now is busy, which blocks ALL of the tells anyway. If you are "busy" why would you want to receive /tells from anyone on ur friendslist anyways. All the other reasons from OP was just meh as if someone is searching your name on player search and then? Like its a bad thing that someone knows in which city u are in + I doubt that anyone keeps searching for OP on player search. If they really stalk you (like following in a city) busy status wouldnt do anything only reports can help then.

Busy also blocks trade attempts, invites, ready checks and more. The proposed status only hides people from the player search - it still allows you to send tells to them if you can see them. It actually would even still allow you to left click the name in the chat and send tells that way if it appeared via emote or something that's been said. The proposed status prevents people from following you around by searching for you and porting around, /busy does not. It's very much different in purpose and consequently, no, it would not defeat the purpose of /busy one bit.
That aside, what newbie even uses the player search to ask random people questions? >_> I can see the novice network, or /shout, but player search?
Where did I said newbie ask via player search? >.> Now tell me how often someone is keep searching your name on player search to follow you around and tell me such thing is needed cause of that. You can just report those people which is more effective.
Why else would you bring newbies into the topic when it's only about hiding people from player search?
Like, what else would a newbie even do with it? You're the one who brought it up, so please explain.
But since you wanna play that game: Where did I say the status would be needed to keep people from following you? I only named it as ONE of many differences, the rest of which you conveniently failed to read or to acknowledge.
I brought up newbies cause of the /tell systems which was a reply to the "rmt" arguement from OP. Never said you said it was needed but OP does since he has no other reason for such a status. Why else would you bring newbies into the topic when it's only about hiding people from player search?

RMT wasn't the only reason clearly. I said that in my post. Yes, people do use player search to try and invite people to FCs and it's seriously annoying. I don't want to block all communication, I just don't want to be found.
And yes, there are people who try to follow me around or contact me through tells randomly. I don't want any creepy guys showing up in my FC house or Private home. Blacklist does nothing. /Busy does nothing. Because they can still find me.
It's not about being anti-social. No social aspects are blocked other than being searched. It's like if in RL everyone in your city could go to a phone app and search your name, current location, and phone number. And you just want an app to NOT allow random people to find you.

Random tells? Ignore it or blacklist. Someone follow you ( I doubt that this is that often)? Go report people wont do it again since they get banned for that. Its a game seriously they only see the area you in not like they know exactly where you are lmao. Even if you can block player search people still can look up the fc house on lodestone etc.. Then again I doubt that so many ppl follow you like crazy so just report okay? You switch between reasons be clear whats your problem if its because ppl talk to you or follow you I gave you the best solution above. Also I know that this is not just only about RMT it was a reply to the other person not you if you realise that.
What's your problem? It's an option. You don't have to have it. You don't have to use it. You can doubt all you want because you don't know me. I shouldn't have to just ignore. I shouldn't even have to blacklist or report. Why go through all that trouble when I can simply prevent them from doing it in the first place.
What's your stance on FC invites? Can't annoy people if they can't get them on search.
