2016 Starlight Celebration ~ 1.0 Character Throwback [Semi-spoiler]

Just wanted to throw these out here in case non-legacy players who may have followed the story line and or didn't remember had a chance to check this out! Out of the 1.0 story the Alchemist quest lines were some of my favorites.

I'll be honest I didn't actually put two and two together until the Alchemist Guild leader came in and his name changed. I thought the name 'Damielliot' looked familiar but it wasn't until the Guild Master mentioned he had been sick as a boy- to which I put two and two together and thought oh... maybe he's...

And what appears to be a new instance scene that is available only per certain requirements.

And sure enough! I slew of dialogue comes through in relation to Damielliot memories of an adventurer who helped him long ago but couldn't remember their face.

Anyways, I thought this was actually really cool. I'm so happy this NPC got closure post Calamity, I hope some of the other characters present in 1.0 quest lines get closure in a similar manner because honestly this was really cute and gave me a 5 year flash back! (I do realize some NPC's have this, for instance I can recall at least CNJ and CRP characters being referenced and used post Calamity in 2.0 resolving and or at least referencing back to things you had done in 1.0 era, pre Calamity)

I've been preparing for this for a little while now - there'll be a Lore Train later today!

I'm polishing it up now because it led to an unexpected revelation. I think I've finally unraveled the mysteries of Demielliot, lol. (As in, an interpretation of the old story arcs whereby Damielliot has no connection Morys or Amberscale Rock, and neither of the latter have a relation to the Boy and the Dragon Gay).

Speaking of Morys, though... I do believe the "Next-Best-Lost-Quest" list of forsaken story arcs and NPCs to rally for the return of has now fallen directly to him! I was going to move on to lobbing for Damielliot, knowing how much Oda-san cares from him, but now that it's done ... who's with me? Morys next!?

I vote Morys next!

I remember the questline from 1.0 talked about before and the penny dropped for me when he mentioned he had a sleeping sickness when he was young. Even though I didn't get to play those original quests I really love the sense of continuity.

On a side note having the daily be us telling sick kids stories of our adventures is a nice touch even if we don't get specific dialog for their reactions. I am assuming the people that appear in the dream change depending on what story you chose to tell though. I picked Gridania and got Yda and Papalymo in Starlight outfits.

tl;dr Morys was a conjurer with the guild, and one of much talent as a Hearer despite being an outsider. Though this knowledge was kept from all but the leadership of Stillglade Fane, Morys was a wildling, claimed by the Elementals and bound to the Twelveswood. His fate was tied to Amberscale Rock, which some of us believe is a dragon sealed by the Elementals for bringing imbalance to the forest. I suspect that the dragon was overpowering the Morys's mind and that the Elementals were trying to sever the link. Even in 1572, some ominous force was willing him to return to Ishgard and the Elementals went wrath-y whenever he tried to leave the wood or someone approached the rock.

Amberscale Rock made it into ARR, but Morys was never seen or heard from again.

As I recall, even Morys himself had no idea he was a wildling.

Alchemist was never a class I bothered with (still haven't), so all I had of Damelliot was his connection to the Ul'dah main story. It's nice to get that all squared away. And the prospect of upcoming Niellefresne reveals is very tasty.

I always thought back then in 1.0 if and when we would go to Ishgard it would be through Mory somehow. It seemed odd that he had such a drive to return, still a little sad we haven't seen his resolve but I hope they have something planned for him in the near-future!

Lore Train INC! WAaaaaa Niellefrense upcoming soon?! How I did I miss this? I know we got -some- resolve / back story info back in 1.0 in the GSM story line in relation to F'lhaminn's & Niellefrense dynamic but I couldn't help but want to know more after watching the old 1.0 Ul'dah Main Scenario Quest "Calamity Cometh" and seeing Niellefrense untimely fate.

Speaking of which I just went back and rewatched Calamity Cometh to make sure I remembered it correctly- And I noticed Damelliot is present in that video not once but TWICE with his illness taking a toll.

Archer side quest was my favorite out of the 1.0 series.

The Niellefresne bone was tossed to us during the 2016 NA FanFest Lore panel. There was a question about what happened to him and Koji & Odi-san told us "don't worry we'll be revealing it soon" (I think they directly said 4.0). Colbernoux (his elder brother who also had the hots for F'hlaminn) returned in the 3.0 GSM questline, which meant we had all the players in place until Minfilia went off and became an Emissary.

Here's hoping Heartstrike and his unknown assassin are brought back too.
