    Commision System - Player-created leves

The basic idea is: you have all the items necessary to make an item, e.g. cobalt arrows or attaching the first materia to an item, are willing to pay a crafter for his/her time, but spend way too much time shouting for help. All while you could be doing something better with your time. Or even when an item you want is not available in the Market Wards leaving you with only two option: wait for it to become available or shout for someone to make it.

This is where a commission system would come in handy. You hand over the goods to an NPC, set the price for how much you'll pay for someone to craft it, and then you sit back and relax. When the item has been created and turned in, your handy-dandy NPC linkshell flashes yellow letting you know the item is ready for pick up.

Crafters would then pick up player-created leves from the Adventure Guild. Some simple rules to make it more appealing for everyone:
    • Each leve comes with a timer (30 minutes or less or you get your materials back), so they're always completed promptly.
    • There is no risk of losing materials. If you fail, you can retry it again. Maybe for a reduced exp/gil reward as the Adventure's Guild will need to replace the items.
    • These leves do not detract from your overall leve count.
    • Optionally, you could have your name added to the items crafted. Cobalt Arrows by Enyae.

And if the Adventurer's Guild take a small percentage off the top, or asks you to make a few additional items for running this service, so be it.

Or, you want an item that is not currently available. Talk to the same NPC that was mentioned above, find what item you want, and how much you're willing to pay. (Optionally, you could hand over the materials needed to craft it.)

These leves can be picked up from the Adventure Guild as well.
    • This ensures multiple people aren't competing to create the same sought after item
    • Each leve comes with a timer, so no one can accept a bunch then sit on them and so they're always completed promptly.
    • These leves do not detract from your overall leve count.

tl;dr - Commission based leve system that helps Adventurers stop wasting time in town shouting for crafting help. Crafters can stay in town and keep busy crafting.

I suggested them this looooooooooooong ago. The only difference is that i called it "adventurer leve".

But seems like they didn't like it at all...too complex for their SNES MMO. Hoping to see it when my original FFXIV spin-off pops! /o/

Adventurer leves has a nice ring to it.

And it's something that, I think, would complement the MW/AH quite nicely as it would function something like a reverse auction house. Instead of throwing items up in the hopes of it selling quickly, players could make requests for an item — via an Adventure leve system — and hope crafters make it for them quickly.

A mailbox system would make delivery of the items more convenient, but being notified via an NPC linkshell that the item is ready to be picked up works just fine. Add to that a running history of past prices to help give players an idea of how much to offer.

And to help expedite orders through Adventurer leves, the first 12 hours or so that the leve is active, it's exclusive to that world. After that, crafters from other worlds can see and accept the leve. Could even have the items personalize with the players name and server it came from.

And what if within those 30 min a swindler just sells your crafted materials? In what way could SE prevent this from happening? Even if you said; well the person who posted the request would get his materials back, what happens to the swindlers money he made from selling the items? Does it subtract the costs he made from the materials? What if he traded the money to someone else, or bought something and has 0 gil remaining? Does he/she incur a negative gil balance?

I like the system, I like the idea, but I feel the only way to make it work is if the crafters don't actually get the supplies in hand, they would have to speak to an NPC and the NPC would say would you like to craft this for abc reward? Yes > crafted item is made and is automatically sent to the mog house/whatever method of pickup--without the crafter ever holding the materials or the finished product. So if that is the case then why just give that ability to our wonderful Market Ward buddies?

I don't know, like I said I like the idea, but I think some refinements are in order. :/

Someone mentioned it would be like a reverse auction house. Why not make it a feature of the new auction house system. You put the items in a "looking to be crafted" section and then the player crafts it from the window.

Also, someone mentioned that the player could steal the items. I'm assuming they haven't done any leves for crafting in the current system. The player doesn't actually have the items given to them in their inventory. They are automatically put into the crafting window when the leve is selected.

The same way they keep you from doing the same with with Local Leves - the items aren't actually in your inventory, they can only be used through the 'Requested Items' buttons on the craft menu, just like Local Leves.

I'd really like to see something like this implemented. Crafters have been somewhat neglected since Yoshi took over.

I can smell a way to exploite in the idea. Lets say I set up dodoret double to craft and craft it with a lvl 30 LTW even fail I still got a decent exp out of it and like that I can keep going going and going w/o lost any allowrance neither lost material or spend anything.

The idea is good, but that flaws is a game break

edit: just like the 2nd post, this kind of system is to complex to impossible to add into game

edit #2: also it is unfair for crafter in this as well. a CPR lvl 50 doesnt have 100% chance to success a Champion's Lance (3kk at besaid or so and 2kk for the head) but this system allow it to be 100%, I found another game break

    Champion's Lance

The flaw i can see from this is people will be using for free skillups if materials doesn't get destroyed upon failing, purposely fails it because it doesn't retract your leve counts. So to make it works, it does needs to retract your leve counts.

yes and the reward need to be great as well. A lvl 30 take a lvl 35 quest with 7 craft items are : 570-600 x7 with 1,2k+-1,5k reward + 2k+ gil

There's an easy way to fix all of the above supposed problems with the system: commission leves grant no XP for crafting, only for the completion of the leve.
