Can keyboard keys be unmapped?

I only got around to checking out how mappable FFXIV is, and I only recently realized they put a ton of work into it compared to release time.

Only problem is, I want to clear key mappings. I don't want to have to resort to assigning a key I don't want (for example, the jkli keys that control the camera) to some unused key to "free up" those keys, as a lot of keys are already being used.

Is there some way to clear the mapping for unwanted keys, or do I *have* to assign my unwanted functions temporarily to some other key so that I can use those keys for the functions I actually want?

compared to other MMOs key mapping is extremely limited.

if you select a key and press delete i think it should clear that space from any key.

i cant wait for the day i can key map every ability in my arsenal to the entire keyboard so i wont have to toggle action bars.
one of the worst systems ive ever seen in an MMO is having to toggle action bars... especially only being able to use 1-0 >.>

I would respectfully disagree but then again I'm using a gamepad. On a gamepad cycling through the action bars is super easy. I just have it mapped to up/down on the d-pad, works fantastically.

I honestly don't know if we'll see skill/macro mapping to keyboard keys.

They've already said we will have full customization of our keyboards eventually. But then again... that's probably only going to happen in 2.0 :/.
