Unable to download patch files [20512],[25008],[20495] ps4

I've been through the ringer and back trying to figure this out. The download stops at around 1045-1050mb of 15078 and gives the " Unable to download patch files [20512],[25008],[20495]" which I assume is the last part of this process. I've called SE, Sony (NOTE: Sony can't help with this) and Charter (my ISP) several times in the past few days to find a solution and I've come up empty handed. I just received my new ps4 and was doing a simple ps3 to ps4 transfer on Nov 29 this year when I came across this issue. I've also tried a couple of steps that were explained in these forums in which I had no success therefore I will explain the steps I've taken to look into this and perhaps someone else will have better luck.

Anyway, after many phone calls between several companies I decided to send SE an email explaining this instead of calling them back. They responded and gave me a list of things to try. The first thing was to make sure that in your PSN internet browser that you have cookies and java enabled (When the browser is open simply click options on the controller and click the settings at the top on the right). I erased the cookies and websites if any, deleted any trace of FFIV and reinstalled ARR and HW & I had the same issue.

Second, I was told to check my date and time settings on the PS4 and not to do it manually, but allow it to change the time via the internet. Then shut the system down and reboot. Same thing occurred. Third they said to disable/shut off anything that uses your router/modem to prevent interference. This didn't help and I also made a direct connection to the PS4 with my modem and still nothing.

Fourth I was told to check the Port Ranges on my router/modem to ensure that the ports have been opened/forwarded/triggered. These were UDP - 55296,55551 & TCP - 80,8080,443,55296,55551. I called my ISP ( Charter Communications) and asked them about these ports and it seems that Charter has ports 80, 8080 closed to inbound traffic and allows outbound traffic only. All of their equipment is setup the same and they cannot open these on their end. Therefore I called my router company and was told to go into my routers setup page and in admin settings I turned on port 8080 & opened it. I confirmed the port was open by using yougetsignal.com. Then I port forwarded my router to only run to the PS4 with a static IP I created. I also added 3 separate inbound traffic rules to my firewall allowing port access from ports 80,880,443. This didn't solve it either. Apparently my router company told me they cant open the ports in general but this allows it to be used by bypassing the modems block on the inbound traffic. Only the ISP can actually open it from what they said.

Since my ISP cant or won't open these ports ( from what they said it is to prevent people from establishing web domains etc through their basic service... whatever) I can't think of anything else to do. I would assume that SE could create a patch that doesn't prioritize those specific ports or something that can help us connect to the servers to at least get by this one small part that prevents it from continueing. There's obviously some interference between Square Enix's servers and the PS4 during the data transfer to the ps4.

With that said...Square Enix please help with this issue, because we are paying you to play a game that has been and will remain dormant until this is resolved. Thank you. Anyway, good luck to you all and if you find anything else out please post and i'll do the same.

    Discovery

This message is to update my last. I discovered something in the signal traveling from my IP address to the domain it needs to get to. I ran a tracer from my command prompt on the PC to FFXIV.com which is the address of all final fantasy 14's downloads etc go through and I seen where it is timing out at. Seems after the signal leaves my ISP it goes to another location outside of MY ISP range and then suddenly shifts over to another with a similar address then times out before it reaches it as well as the speed it travels goes from 17ms to 70ms. When the signal picks back up it starts at that last address it times out at and then travels to a japanese address. When it reaches the Japanese address the speed changes to 122ms and climbs for each addition japan address it travels too. After 4 japanese addresses it times out again and then a bunch of unkown addresses pop up and they all time out. I just had a technician over and we went through a bunch of steps and this doesn't seem to be an issue with my ISP's end of it. I can see that it's because of this that i'm not able to finish the patch. The way the signal travels to the FFXIV domain is very peculiar. This is the only game i'm having any trouble with. Therefore what is causing this time out that prevents the signal from coninuing on?

Had this issue. Manually setting my DNS to Google's (8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4) let the patch download without issue.

    Alternate

Tested both on PC and on PS4, had issue on both. Root cause has to do with the order of updates when installing a fresh copy.

I will log on tomorrow and post more detail in case that did not work. I am able to reproduce the issue and fix it.

    solution

Thank you Karihi. That simple tip worked wonderfully and without all that technical stuff i was doing lol. ...This is confirmed for those struggling still on this issue....this may or may not work for you. First i allowed access to port 80 through my router; turned off wifi on everything connected to the internert and then manually set up my internet connection on the ps4. You will first need to check your connection in network settings ( its the bottom option); then write down your ip address, submask address, default gateway, primary dns and secondary dns. Then choose to setup a connection manually. Choose your router/modem. Erase the 0.0.0.0 in each line and enter all of the information in each section that you wrote down to the corresponding area except for the primary and secondary dns. In the primary dns, i entered 8.8.4.4 and for secondary i put 8.8.8.8
Click ok then click automatic for the next one and dont allow pppoe. Test your connection after to make sure everything was entered properly and you habe a connection. Proceed to log in ffxiv again and let the download process run its course. My download exceeded past the point of error and continued till the end. This took a long time to download, but it worked, thank goodness. You may be able to skip the rest of the stuff i did and go right to the manual connection steps. Those are just what i did. Good luck to you all =).

Download a ARR, don't include the heavensward patch. Then open the game up. It will install after that then install heavansward.

OK, having this issue on PS4. Actually, it's not me, but a friend who's trying to download the demo (PS4)...though I had it myself, and changing the DNS settings worked. Not no with him...and we tried everything from changing those DNS settings, changing from wifi to wired, deleting and reinstalling, etc...I mean, there's a ton of fixes that are just 'hit and miss'. So, I saw this thread, and noticed how recent it was and figured I'd see if there was a solution.

As of now, the only difference I see with anything we've tried, is sn8plskn's idea of switching the primary (which we had set at 8.8.8.8.) and secondary (8.8.4.4.).

As for the solution presented by Goodsush84, that didn't work for me when I had this issue. I recently upgraded to a PS4 Pro and downloaded the game (ARR...HW doesn't even show in my library) and had this issue. Changing my DNS to P:8.8.8.8. and S:8.8.4.4. did the trick for me, but for my buddy...not so much. So, we're gonna try to "flip-flop" that and see if that'll work. If not, I fear his only other solution is to take his system to a friend's house and try there.

And if that don't work, last resort would be to replace his modem/router. A route I know he won't bother with...not for a game he's never played.
