Part of the challenge comes from having to restart if your party wipes. And obviously, if this were to be extended to df, they would have to get rid of it because it would be entirely too easy to troll people or accidentally ruin other people's progress. Would you not be EXTREMELY pissed off if some random group wiped you on floor 199 because they did something stupid and you then had to restart at floor 51? Without that, the difficulty would take a massive nerf. Think of it as wiping at 35% on a raid boss and then just restarting at 50%. That said, it's not really difficult anyway, as long as you don't go LOLFACEROLLWHEEEE running around the floor like an idiot. And yes, I've cleared it twice, working on a third clear, haven't wiped a single time (although we came close on the chimeras once on floor 181).

And now imagine the flame posts if people get 9 chimeras on floor 184 like we did yesterday. After 181 you need communication and teamwork and that is a thing that not really exists with randoms.

For some people it is, people like me who don't have the time or people I trust that log on the same time as me. You could argue PF, but the chances of being able to flawlessly organise a PF PotD run without someone quitting is risky.

This gating actually makes the later floors dead content to me, and that is not good game design.
