You don't have to do anything. If you have a house though, you'll probably want to pass the property off to someone instead of letting it selfdestruct.

I need advice from anyone who had quit and / or come back later.
I will try to keep it short but it's difficult.
In a nutshell, reasons why I am thinking of quitting are two.
Real life (building my house, expanding my business, studying to get a new license).
Lack of enjoyment in the game. (Not going to explain why because so many others say it here every day anyway.)
Now I am very busy and I have not played in over a week. I used to play almost every day, at least to do Roulettes. But I have no time and no motivation to log in. But I miss my FC friends already.
My subscription renewal is coming up, so I want to make a decision before then.
My questions are these:
What should I do with my money and items? Should I give them to someone / put them in our FC chest?
If I keep everything, but never return to the game, it's such a waste! I have friends and / or my FC who could use money and items.
But, what if, someday, I decide to come back? I will have no / little money and few items.
Right now, I think there is no chance to come back. I can only imagine becoming more busy and, if I even have time, there are other games (not online games) I want to try playing.
I thought about logging in, just to talk to people, but I don't want to pay subscription fee just for it. I can go out and meet people to talk to instead.
Before my subscription time runs out, what should I do? Does anyone have a similar experience? Anyone who gave away their money / items and came back later?
If you did return after a long break, how did you feel about the game? Was it worth returning to?
I quit for 1 year and after coming back i regret paying the subscription. The game is dead, there is little entertainment, it is a repetitive annoying chore of poorly designed pattern of instances to keep you busy till the new content comes out, which will be obsolete 8 hours right after the release.
The xiv model is based on repetition and mindless grind, with 0 innovation and no long term accomplishment.
As i explained in detail here: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...es-To-the-Game third post from top.
so personally if the game doesnt change drastically (i doubt it will) im done with it forever after this subscription i just reactivated runs out.
What to do about items and stuff? give them to your closest friend, if you are sure you wont come back, even if you are not, you wil always find someone willing to help you rebuild what you had, that said i doubt its gonna be hard because this game is dumbed down to the infinity.
its extremely easy to gear up, and gils are useless anyaway. they throw gear at your face with tomestones.
Yeah you can tell i dislike the game, i do really hate how this game turned out to be after playing Square titles since 90's.
Good luck and have fun with your real life and projects. This game is at a point that doesnt deserve a time investment at all.
Tbh if you do that then you'll be vary behind and playing catch up is an pain play at least an hr an day. I have an busy life and I play this when I can and if I get bored I do something else for an bit

Keep everything. If you decide to come back, it's all there waiting for you.
You worked for it, why get rid of it.
Thank you for all of your posts.
I read all of them.
I am still undecided, but leaning more towards keeping everything.
I hate playing "catch-up" though.
Maybe I can try to play 1 hour a day...but I'm not sure if it is worth the subscription fee.
The grind is mindless and boring and I can find few reasons to do any content. Honestly, I am more interested in the story now than anything, but with each update it is only a couple hours a long and the story fights are easy and boring.
Here's my advice take it or leave it:
Go ahead and take a break. Keep all your stuff. Come back when the expansion hits if you are financially able. Bust out the main story quests to get in to the new xpac and just start leveling from there. You can hit the new level cap and start fresh with everyone else.
I logged on today with the intent to run a few dungeons..... instead i logged in looked at the dungeon list and that's it.... i thought to myself "why bother?" The tome gear is worthless for the most part for my main (BLM) and most of the gear is freaken ugly. I cant believe they ended HW with this horrid gear. Then I thought maybe I could go for the new relic weapon to past the time.... then I remembered how boring it is to upgrade each step.... so i logged out of the game and ended up here talking about how boring the game is............
In other words I rather talk about how boring the game is instead of playing the boring game...... ok im going to go read a book latas.....![]()

Wife and I play maybe 2-3 hours per week.Thank you for all of your posts.

If you aren't in a hurry to complete everything and can afford it, it's still fun. It definitely lessens chances of burning out on the game.

It's better to keep your item in case you come back later. I'm thinking to take a break too but I hate when I planned to online again at 3.5 and wanted my subs ended there's christmas event and heavensturn and I should attend it in order to avoid buying at cash shop next year ;w;
