Archers are upset because they were expecting Ranger and got Bard instead. Should they be allowed to transfer their levels to another DD job because that's what they meant to level? (And to be honest, while people did seem to be a bit confused at first, Bard is being generally well received.)

Thaumaturges are upset because...well...some were expecting to be healers, some wanted to remain in god mode...but should they be allowed to transfer their levels to another mage job because they meant to level a healer?

Ignoring the fact that you should have multiple classes leveled to augment your main class (The whole point of the armory system), people should not have jumped to conclusions without solid proof that THM was going to become the healer.

Even if you couldn't tell which classes would be which job, you could have still drawn reasonable conclusions that Conjurer would have been White Mage (with Cure, Raise, Protect, Shell) or Black Mage (With Elemental spells) and that Thaumaturge could have been a Red Mage (with it's focus on enfeebles.) Nowhere in the spells did THM indicate any sort of "White Mage" quality except maybe Banish and Ressurect and MAYBE Sacrifice. And to be honest, Sacrifice has been a Blue Mage ability in the past more than WHM.

The OP is asking for compensation because he leveled a class that didn't end up being the class he wanted it to be. Despite the understanding the game was changing, class balancing was coming up and evidence ranging from minor to obvious that THM would not be the White Mage class.

As I said, as long as BLM can equip Cure, my problem will most likely be resolved (eventually).

In summary, I'll just say that this game is in transition from a system where classes are flexible and can perform many roles to a system where classes are more limited in the roles they can perform. If you leveled (almost) every class in anticipation of major changes, great! You're set. But I don't think "go re-level other classes to make up for the role(s) that you lost" is an optimal solution, and in a game that is rapidly changing, some accommodation should be made to players that leveled a class to fill a certain role... particularly in a game that has had as many PR challenges as this one.

For players who don't intend to level multiple classes (that they don't intend to use now) in anticipation of any major change the game will make, role re-assignment is not very far removed from a character wipe. In practice, both scenarios involve reduplication of effort you've already made just to get back to where you were.

The OP is not saying he wants to be main healer he just wants to have a large back up healing skill. Wow great wouldn't we all want that. I'm a pugilist and my job is getting trashed and I just resolved to get it to 50 next week so I won't have to worry about the patch. I have a full time job and its taken me a year to get to 49 pugilist and I never understand when people say it only takes days or weeks. You are right about it being way easier then the first few months. I can now get one level a week which I love. So I do understand what he is saying but the whole point of the game is to level different classes and craft. If he had leveled con instead what would he be doing now? I'm done and now what? The whole point of the game is to try different things so level something else. We have all the time in the world. MMO that's the point of them they don't end they keep going.

SE was clear in asking via poll if we would accept significant game altering changes. The "yes" vote won.

SE offered the game for free play, during game alering changes, while they developed the game to whatever level they found reasonable.

With those two facts in mind, you should have realize these type of changer were not only possible, but somewhat likely.

The bottom line is that classes get nerfed in every MMO. It is common with any kind of balance adjustment. Considering that XIV is being overhauled, and we were warned that the game we are playing now may not be the same game that we end up playing tomorrow - nobody is entitled to any kind of compensation for the revamps.

This is like a CCG player asking for a refund, or free packs from the new sets when the old sets get cycled out. Or like a Street Fighter player suggesting that they should have all of their time investment refunded when the character that they've mained gets nerfed in the next update/patch/sequel.

To the guy who asked what my motives are for being against this idea - if SE were to bend for this guy, they will have to answer for it every single time a patch alters something that a player invested time into. You give them an inch, they take a mile. My motive is to avoid giving SE a slippery slope that they would have to devote unnecessary time and money into dealing with, all so that a handful of players don't feel temporarily butt hurt.

One excels in healing and the other in damage, but it would be nice to have an extra backup heal - the same way melee have a way of healing themselves. It alleviates stress on timers, and hate. This is pretty self explanatory.

Because it only takes days or weeks... This isn't me, but this is just an example:

Even that's way on the slow side, and they weren't doing it non-stop. You can get 250-300k EXP/hr powerleveling and farming Natalan coffers or Inferno Tapers. 1-50 takes less than 1.8m EXP. That's 6-8 hours or so.

My advice to you would be to not take it so personally. It's only a game.
