    Ethers and potions should become overall more useful for Alchemists to justify their existence.

    OP acts as if because he needs to go cross-class to get to play the role he did before that the class somehow "doesn't exist anymore". It exists when you cross-class it.

    Other than that the argument is nothing but baseless assumptions about cross-class effectiveness (or lack of it).
