That interview was done before Heavensward came out, I'd wonder if they're still planning to follow through on making the primal horses fly since they decided to start doing the birds for the HW EX primals? They made Kirin and the others mentioned flyable months ago. Most of the other things have been completed too aside from bunny ears for men and the FC alliances (which I figured they'd be saving for whenever Ishgard Wards finally come out). It wouldn't be the first thing that got delayed for well over a year though so who knows.
Thank you for posting this! I knew I had read that, just couldn't provide the original source after all this time. Here ya go:

"Ahriman and Bomb mount (from Kobolds) as well as primal horses will all fly. First one to fly will be Kirin."

That may very well be the case. But, I would really appreciate if a DEV could respond because there are people (you're talking to one of them) that are under the impression all the primal horses would get to fly. They made the stupid turtle fly, why not these magical horses made out of elemental energy?

I don't think the translation itself is the issue so much as that the Japanese page is a brief summary or a much more nuanced Q&A and the Japanese language itself, especially written, tends to be very context dependent. I've forwarded the part about the mounts to a very experienced translator friend and asked her to let me know if anything seems off about reddit translation if people are iffy on that though. I'll get back on what she says later.
Translator friend said the sentence in Japanese is very vague and speculative. It'd be like "Ahriman and Bomb mount and primal horse flying. First one to fly will be Kirin?" and that it's difficult to be more precise than that without knowing everything Yoshi said during that specific interview.
Please no... or at least a reduced version of this. I recently got Fenrir (like literally about 2 weeks ago when he could already fly) and was very disappointed that every time he flies, I pretty much go blind as there are so many particles covering the screen... (may be related to being a lalafell, but I don't think so)
I'm talking about the movement not the particle effect. The horses already have their own particle affect in the form of the element they represent. Please no... or at least a reduced version of this. That's happening too.
I'm not even sure if you don't know what's going on or what...but uh...most of what you've mentioned so far is here http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...19#post3945419

Friend/recruitment code for special items and things (use before paying first sub) RACN78W5 (updated) info on items here http://sqex.to/Cz9 code is entered via the mogstation.
EDIT: Actually, I take that back. Possibly; I'm having a hard time figuring out what 蛮神馬 is. Savage/barbarian horse, but I have a hard time gathering if the sentence, 蛮神馬マウントも飛ぶ。, is referencing multiples or just one. If it's just one, then they were just speaking about Kirin. まずは麒麟が飛べるように? is asking if Kirin is even capable of flight. Considering it's being asked if Kirin is even capable, not all of them, leads me to believe the first sentence was in singular reference, not plural. アーリマンやボム、蛮神馬マウントも飛ぶ。 on its own, it says "Ahriman, bomb and barbarian horse also fly." It doesn't really make it sound like multiple horses. Here ya go:

'Cause it's a reference to Gamera; they even fly the same way. Kaiju are popular.
I love my fenrir. I absolutely abhor that particle effect for that exact reason. Please no... or at least a reduced version of this.
