WHM getting progressively more unnecessary in content?

The thing is, I want to let them at least be aware of the fact that a pure healer type healer won't work in a game like this.
PLD is a bit better off because they do something no one else can do, which is protect other party members. If they focus in that they'll be fine and have a very strong identity.

But with WHM? Just more healing isn't going to cut it. I want them to know that, if they don't already, so we won't continue with this through 4.0.

I think you aren't giving SE enough credit were it's due. I'm pretty sure they are aware on what their doing with the classes, they have been demonstrating it through the hot fixes and each patch. (Take AST for an example) They have testers, they hear variant complaints all the time. Hell even the team talks to each other about cool ideas or how to make the classes better. We are in the stage where we need wait. You can make threads all you want once the new expansion is here. Until then. Let's just wait and see what will happen in 4.0. They've already addressed future changes to all the classes for storm blood.

AST is currently the WAR of healers, very powerful. But that doesn't mean WHM is losing its usefulness.
WHM can clear endgame content just fine. It just lacks utility.

Tbh just so long as you properly manage your Aetherflow stacks Scholar is equally equipped for clutch-saves as WHM is, even a little bit more so, since they have the most amount of instant heals per minute, plus a free heal every 3 seconds that is stronger than Regen and free of cast and MP cost (fairy). The problem with most average-DF Scholars is that they don't know how to properly use their fairies or don't know how to manage their Aetherflow stacks to keep track of possible mistakes. Though the later can also be contributed to an excess of trust in your DF party :P. Always a terrible thing to have, LOL.

In any case, this doesn't really provide much for the OP's topic, save for stating that Scholar's emergency healing is actually better than WHM's in terms of efficiency. I have posted repeatedly in Tonberry's threads about WHM and they probably know I completely agree with the sentiment that WHM is underequipped in comparison to their peers right now. Hope the cross class revamp fixes some of that!

I dunno. I still think WHM's can dish out quite the DPS more than an AST ever can. Both raid and in dungeon. I've seen WHM's pull it off and heal at the same time. You just need to be smart about your mana usage and your materia melding. I hear full Piety melds + accuracy actually works wonders.


Just to put it out there. I'm not saying AST needs more damage. Combust II is a bit powerful. lol

A friend of mine went WHM for expert and was 2nd on dps.
He was behind NIN by 10 only!!! The NIN had iL268 and WHM iL248.
That holdy spam...

NIN is also my frind not some random person. He said if he made any mistakes with his rotation, WHM would have been top dps.

No, not really. SCH is and has always been the WAR of healers. They're normally the off-role because of the great DPS both jobs are capable of.

I dunno. The cards are becoming so much more useful. I'm finding it easier to clear content as a AST than as I was a SCH. Just in my view. The light speed also helps me clear mobs faster than I could with SCH. And the instant healing while moving is very useful. The way we can use Synastry (Divine seal on crack) is very unique. I don't particular miss having a fairy for free heals. lol The CDS are at max 2 minutes. That's real nice.

I don't think people are considering that with AST cards, the more the dps' gear is, the more powerful their cards will be.
20/30% or 10% aoe balance cards are absolutely ridiculous on well geared and well played DPS'.
I get that support is their identity and all, but to offer support this strong with nothing holding it back but a little RNG is, IMO, crazy. Not even WHM has heals this insanely broken to fit their identity, which is supposed to be string raw heals.
