WHM getting progressively more unnecessary in content?

Isn't this like saying MNK is getting progressively unnecessary? You could argue that even though it's the highest individual DPS, that extra DPS is unnecessary because MNK has no raid utility. So a DRG could do 90% the DPS of a MNK, but also increase everyone else's DPS with Battle Litany+Disembowel, which pushes the added damage past what the 10% deficit is compared to MNK.

In that regard, WHM has potent heals and HoTs that could allow WHM additional time to throw out Stone III's/Aero's/Asylums. Doesn't WHM have the best single target DPS amongst healers? Couldn't that be their 'raid utility' in a sense?

That would be their identity if they weren't crippled by ACC requirements (while the other healer jobs have abilities that ignore ACC) or crippled by MP management (again, the other healer jobs have abilities that mitigate this deficiency). If SE wants to keep these as-is, DPS will never suffice as a WHM identity.

As the job stands right now as of 3.4, WHM has the largest number of drawbacks and limitations of every FFXIV job.

I'd disagree on the first bit of your post on the fact that there's generally no such thing as "too much DPS" unless you're pushing auto-wipe triggers like in AAR primals. There is such a thing as too much HPS though. With that being said there are other reasons why MNK isn't desirable versus other DPS' ATM that I won't get into as it's pretty off topic to this thread.

If they give WHM a sustainable DPS utility that you're suggesting that would probably make them more desirable overall without changing the HPS kit. I'd personally like to see WHM moved into that direction.

As it stands, AST is far too powerful now and I'm hoping they get a massive kit overhaul in 4.0 to supplement a more unique (and balanced) playstyle.

I see no evidence of the OP bashing WHM.

It is actually kind of the opposite, they are pointing out the faults of it because they main it and want it to be better.

Correction, they are not the weakest. They have no party utility like the other two healers which made them less desirable.
The weakest in heals will be SCH > AST >= WHM (Strongest heals).

Proof will be FFlogs. Someone posted numbers between WHM and AST comparing healing numbers and party HP%. WHM is superior but AST is not far behind.
