    Female Roegadyn Name Help...?

Hello! I was wondering if anyone that studies or is very knowledgeable in Roegadyn language could help me out with naming my future female Roegadyn character?

I am choosing between two different names and wanted to make sure they make sense based off of what I studied.

    One being Bl'oeya Swarharrwyb.

The second one being Fhil'oeya Swarharrwyb.

I also don't think I need the apostrophe in the first names, so I am debating using them, but I do like them, especially for Bl'oeya since Bloe ends with OE and Oeya ends with OE so I took out one of the oe's and used an apostrophe to kind of merge the two together.

Thank you very much in advance to anyone that can help me out! I want to make sure I do this right for all the Roe's out there, lol!

I assume that, given the use of the Roegadyn language at all, we're talking about a Sea Wolf lass, yes?

Just a warning, if you want to follow the standard nomenclature to a T, the surname should be her father's name followed by wyn for "daughter". For example, Merlwyb Bloefhiswyn's surname shows that she is the daughter of Bloefhis (Blue Fish).

The given name is rather invariably an adjective/verb + noun combination. Females almost always have the second word, the hard noun, as swys(sta), sister; thota, daughter; wyda, willow; geim, jewel; wyb, wife; rael, doe; lona, gatherer; or bhyda, bride. Going back to Merlwyb, her name is thus Sea Wife.

All of that said, you are still free to do as you wish; again: just a warning.

I've never seen an apostrophe in a Roegadyn name that I recall, for what it's worth, though I do agree that Bloe / Oeya might meld a bit...

Moose-senpai will probably be finished by the time I get done with this.

Anyway, Roegadyn naming patterns are not terribly hard. Their forenames translate to "adjective noun," while their surnames aren't surnames per sé but the name of their sire with "wyn" or "syn" added to the end for females and males, respectively. "Merlwyb Bloefhiswyn" thus translates to "Sea Woman, Daughter of Blue Fish;" her second in command is Eynzahr Slafyrsyn (aka Mistbeard), or "One Tear, Son of Sleeping Fire."

There are no apostrophes in Roegadyn names. For the purposes of conjugation, omit a repeating consonant. In the example above, Eynzahr's father is named "Slafyr;" "Slafyr" is a compound of "Slaf" (sleeping) + "fyr" (fire). Omitting the repeated consonants makes it shorter and more manageable (cf. Slaffyr to Slafyr). Do the same with vowels; in your example "Bloe" (blue) and "Oeya" (eye) would thus just become "Bloeya" (Blue Eye[d]). Much more sensible and pronounceable than "Bloeoeya" or "Bl'oeya."

While males have a wide variety of nouns in their forenames, females typically have one of the following:
    • -swys (sister)
      -thota (daughter)
      -wyda (willow)
      -geim (jewel)
      -wyb (woman)
      -rael (doe)
      -lona (gatherer)
      -bryda (bride)

Use the Roegadyn dictionary and Naming Conventions to further perfect it, but it should be "[Adjective+Noun] [Adjective+Noun]wyn." Fill in the "Adjective+Noun" with appropriate Roegadyn words at your discretion and conjugate properly. (During my brief stint as a Roegadyn I was called "Wakkahtyn Rhotahrsyn," or "Awakened Judge, Son of Red Eagle," just for reference.)

... if you want a lore-friendly name, anyway.
