Want to buy Mist housing on Balmung, should I even bother looking?

So I'd like to actually get a plot in Mist, don't really care what size but realistically it'd be small/medium because gil. But I have no idea how much to save up and it seems like the only way to even go about this is to camp the Limsa Aetheryte and hope that a house gets demolished and/or a plot opens up and I buy it in time.

I held off on looking into an apartment because I thought that they weren't limited like housing, but from what I'm reading those also have a limit and I'm probably going to have a difficult time finding one on Balmung as well?

Then there's the matter of even making enough gil to purchase housing of any sort.

I had a FC room that I spent all my gil at the time on but that was wasted when the FC went and bought a different house. Still bitter about that.

Am I just SOL on this unless I switch servers or wait until 4.0? Or is it less hopeless than it seems?

The houses will release on the hour, so check the ward listings then (remember the subdivision listings too!). You're on one of the busiest servers so there is a ton of competition, but you might luck out so keep trying. As far as pricing goes, the plot pricing can be found here (right under pricing post patch 3.3, you'll likely have to pay the starting price if you find one). Square has stated they can/will add more apartments up to about 500 total allowed per ward, but it appears to be a manual switch and they haven't given an eta on when they'll add more since it appears only Balmung is cleaned out of them. 4.0 is supposed to add a new housing district that we don't have info on yet, so if by summer you haven't moved servers or still haven't found a house, be prepped on patch day for a mad dash.
