    What? More DPS = push phases, skip mechanics, kill things faster. All of creator savage is proof of this. Skipping most of A9S, tank busters and many mechanics in A10S, limit cuts/optical sights/lapis in A11S and the "earthshaker" voids in A12S. More DPS is the opposite of useless. It makes fights easier.

    There is a difference between "viable" and "optimal" and MNK isn't close to DRG/NIN right now.

    And none of that is needed. There is a difference between "necessary" and "preferred" as well as "useless" and "suboptimal."

    In fact, iirc PLD + MNk was preferred in a8s cuz it was safer with super mantra and the fact you could shelltron the punches.

    I'm PLD, we don't have DRK so MNK helped us in clearing savage, 5th week with A12S on farm. Of course we are not world speed (BRD instead of MCN, MNK instead of DRG, PLD instead of DRK) but we still do very good numbers...

    The problem with monks is greased lightning stack, that needs to go, because SE keep adding content with dead time, stops, bosses that teleports, change phases and stuff.
    This just destroys any monk dps compared to any other class that doesnt rely on greased lightning dmg buff.

    Im personally really bored of this fight design where you always have pauses between actions/phases and stuff like that.
    Thats the only problem.

    On a standing target monk is still highest dps. but due to the fact that bosses mechanic are so idiotic designed, it suffers a lot from these pauses ans phase shifts.

    I'm not main monk but imo to prevent dps loss you should put Tornado Kick before those annoying stuff?

    If you miss-time your tornado kick by 1 or 2 GCD, it's still a DPS loss...
    Tornado Kick should be more powerful IMO, it doesn't even compare to Death Flare, it should have 400 or 500 potency, or give a 10% damage buff for 15-20s to make it usefull if you happen to use it at a wrong timing. (like a phase skip...)

    Agreed. It can clear content sure but it still doesn't compare to the other melees which is the problem.

    Tornado Kick was 500 potency before 3.0 hit, but they nerfed it because they felt it would, somehow, be OP even though it's a thing you can only use once in extremely specific segments of fights and it tosses away the main mechanic of Monk to use.
