    Is YOUR server this way?

Lately since Yoshida has been changing so much regarding crafters (sticking them in a backseat) I've seen a drastic decrease in the crafters found on my server. Usually you could enter Ul'dah and find the streets littered with them. These days I see more people idling around than even crafting. It's quieter than usual aside from the random shouts for a party, and synthesis requests go unanswered. Prices for items have made a drastic increase too.

Being an archer I rely on arrows for my damage, on Besaid the price of Cobalt Arrows is 150G per single arrow. I've gathered up the materials on my own and spent a good chunk of time shouting for a carpenter to create them. No response, and this hasn't been the first time. I can spend up to an hour or more doing shouts for a simple materia melding and having all the goods on hand and ready. Yet most often there's no replies, no responses. So I'm wondering, is this the same on the other servers? Besaid was supposed to have had the most talkative community if I recall when the game came about, now it's more silent than before.

EDIT: And it's not just me that's had the problem. I saw one guy doing shouts for a repair and materia melding with a generous reward, two hours later I came back and he was still shouting. I ended up asking a friend I knew to come do it for him. With a community like this I can only fret the game's going to be a ghost town before 2.0 hits.

Not to derail the intended conversation too much, but this is where some sort of commission system would really come in handy. You hand over the goods to an NPC, set the price for how much you'll pay for someone to craft it, and then you sit back and relax.

Crafters can then pick up player-created leves from the Adventure Guild. Some simple rules to make it more appealing for everyone:
    • Each leve comes with a timer (30 minutes or less or you get your materials back), so they're always completed promptly.
    • There is no risk of losing materials. If you fail, you can retry it again. Maybe for a reduced exp/gil reward as the Adventure's Guild will need to replace the items.
    • These leves do not detract from your overall leve count.

This is the coolest idea I have heard in a long time.

I haven't notice this no, but then my linkshell has a lot of high level cracters and my weaver is 40 so I don't really see the need to look elsewhere.

I dont' think this is a problem caused by Yoshida, its more likely people are getting bored after 1.19 and are taking a break.

No one really repairs stuff anymore for strangers because all they offer is a g5 dark matter, people prefers gils these days thanks to Ifrit dropping those dark matter like a candies in halloween.

i agree about the servers being empty and quite and stuff but the whole thing on crafters not answering you is simple, you said it yourself there are arrows in the wards, that's where you buy them lol. the price in ffxi for demon arrows were way higher at start, fact even at the end of it's life they still costed 50k a stack, maybe little less at times. it's the cost, i know the economy itself is screwy so yeah i can get it a little ...but no crafter even if the server is full will grind out arrows for you for much less then what they selling for. most the time the arrow price is only 2-10k profit, probably way more at moment but that is the economy.

in ffxi one of the few rules in a linkshell were this, no asking linkshell members for gils, that includes mats and items/weapons and gear. they are all in the wards in ffxiv just the same. if it's to add materia i get that just like abjurations in ffxi, but other then that no one should be responsible for saving you gil cause guess what the crafters are gathering there mats the same way you did and that is not what they charging you for. it's for there time they invested getting to max and making the items now. even if your not a crafter, there are ways to make gils ..so you can buy them. it's usually a fair system, everyone makes gils in there own form and then they trade equally. a mmo isn't a pyramid scheme where people that don't want to earn there own way can just ask everyone to do everything for them. good community or not, ffxi had a awesome community, and no one did this type of stuff that you are asking for. it's called begging and thinking your time is worth more then theres. while your out doing excactly what you want to do in game they are suffering threw hours of pointless clicking ..i say the prices are usually fair enough.

also archer is kinda the class in this game just like in ffxi where it cost a little more to be a good one cause you had to spend some gils to keep it maintained. if your struggling now it might not be a suitable class cause every time we get cap raises or new arrows and things ..the prices will probably be this retarded unless SE decides lets make a no arrow cost to the system. if i sound like i'm kinda ranting on you i'm not, just saying this is how my opinion to it is, others probably don't agree with me but it's how servers usually are. don't let the starting beta of this game confuse you, the whole everyone making things for each other faze woulda coulda shoulda ended long ago. when nothing is in wards it's understandable, when it's packed with these things it's just not happening. sorry if this gets some mad, but if your even putting in a 1% effort into paying for your things like others are you wouldn't have an issue. one way or another there is a grind. go farm some raptor skins or something. usually the time it takes a begger to find someone he could of made the money to buy one.

tl,dr it's not the server, it's your approach to crafters. but yes the servers are empty and way to many people went from all day crafting to like half afk in city all day with nothing to do or bored.

i know on my server alot less crafters are selling items. there's a bunch of us that simply make gear for ourselves. between that and the yield changes it's more difficult now than it was before hand to make finished items.

Well thats probably because 1.19 brough in a lot of new recipes well, undated ones and the need was high (and still is) due to the materia system.

I see it as no more than people growing bored, either with the game in general or the grind to constantly replace gear which is being converted to materia.

Crafters asks to make their class more important in the game and now they have buggered off and left us in the lerch !

Rule 1 Only count on yourself ! >.>
