Is it a bad idea to actually sing as brd?

For example, using Swiftsong and "singing" a line in a macro.

I'm asking this because I recently picked up archer (lv 18) because I thought it'd be fun to play around with macros....until I ran with a brd who did the same thing, and got a vote dismiss prompt on him. He didn't use <se.x> or anything. Just sang.

Is it on the same annoyance level as berserk macros?

It's like any macro. Depends on how much you use it. If it's once every once in a while (Like a res macro with text) it's usually okay. But if it's every few seconds (someone macroing for example "Azarath Metrion Zinthos" on a cure spell) it can get VERY annoying. Macro responibly

Generally if you use it on a macro that people don't need to know about, you're gonna piss someone off. No one needs to know you're using swiftsong. So it's actually worse than a berserk macro, since those help the healers time their esuna. Or a blunt arrow/spirits within macro so people can plan their silences.

If you really desperately need a song on your macro keep it to yourself and use /echo.

Usually, just use it if you are doing something they need to know about. BUT those are far and few in between as a bard. In theory.. maybe you can do one, when you pop a boosted FOES.. but then again.. any mages partying with a bard should know to look for that purple icon before they blow their CDs and burst.
