This was a dream I had awhile back that I posted in another forum online. A member suggested I post it here as well. Not sure if I'm posting in right section.
In Honor of Final Fantasy XI
Raid Options: 8-players/16-players/24-players
* Raid could be entered as a Premade or as part of standard Duty Finder
* Treasure was strictly glamour gear. Better resolution reskins of the iconic gear sets.
Raid started off in a room similar to Walk of Echoes with multiple Atomos options. Each Atomos represented a part of FFXI: Rise of the Zilart, Chains of Promathia, Treasures of Aht Urhgan, Wings of the Goddess, Seekers of Adoulin, Abyssea, Add-on Trilogy (A Crystalline Prophecy, A Moogle Kupo d’Etat, A Shantotto Ascension). Note: Rhapsodies of Vana’diel was not released yet when I had this dream.
Within each section there were three paths, one built for 8-players, one for 16-players, and one for 24-players. The more players needed the more difficult the fights and the larger treasure pool. This was done so that if players wanted to enter strictly as an 8-player group they could farm or 16-players or 24-players respectively.
Groups of 24-players for example, could either split into 3 groups going after 3 different areas. They could also split 16 and 8, or stay as a full 24 to tackle a path.
In my dream specifically:
Group A – Rise of the Zilart, Group B - Treasures of Aht Urhgan (My Group), Group C – Add-On Trilogy
My groups path lead to Hydra. In our fight we had an interesting mechanic. I forget what the move was called but I went from controlling my Hyur Bard to switching being in control of the Lalafell White Mage. It was programmed that if you had the job leveled, your hot keys were set to what they are as if you were on that job. If you did not have the job leveled it was as if the abilities were auto-filled in from leveling. A tribute to ‘knowing all jobs’ end game and being what was needed from the older days.
Group A beat their Shadow Lord and was rewarded old Dynamis gear. Group B’s pool had Salvage gear. Group C lost their fight. After winning the path the group proceeds to the final treasure room where duplicates of the gear earned from the groups individual pools are added to a main pool. Only groups that completed their paths get to lot in the final treasure room. This gave group members a second chance at the item their group earned and/or a chance to win an item from another group’s path. Each player was restricted to winning only one item per attempt at the raid.
