I think it is about time the sound bug with USB headsets gets sorted.

The lack of being able to switch primary sound devices on the fly is pretty bad when free to play games allow you to switch your sound device in game within the sound settings.

If you plug in a usb headset for raid the in game sound will still play via your normal speakers and if you have the headset in before you start the game it will play via the headset but once you have started the game even if you set the primary sound device via windows the in game sound won't change unless you close it down and restart it where as most games allow you to change your device in game.

Can we please get an audio source drop down in the audio options in game.

Omg, I thought this was an issue on my end. I'm not the only one you can't change the sound without having to actually log out entirely? >_>

    Fix this SE!

I thought this was also just an issue for me too.

Kind of relieved to know it's a game issue.

This problem plagued me last time I played the game about a year ago. It was annoying to always be telling my FC mates "hold on let me relog" every time they wanted to do something with me. They probably hated me lol.

Sad to see it's still an issue. I would love for this to be fixed.

I seem to get around this issue since both my speakers and headset use the 3.35mm connection, thus my computer treats them the same and turns the speakers off if the headset is plugged in. Don't know if that works for everyone.

I would really love a dropdown menu too.

<- The real reason Yoshi-P stressed watching all the cutscenes.

Matoya: And that should give you a notion of how sick and tired I was of those spineless wretches of the Forum. All talk and no trousers, that lot.

I would suggest this as the fastest solution to a person that has this problem. Also if they going to be fixing bugs can we please have the logitech G600 mouse work properly on the PS4 again? Thanks.

This isn't just a headset on/off problem. Sometimes the sound in this game just "pops" out of existence for me for seemingly no reason, and whenever that happens the game will not make a single peep until I close it entirely and reopen it again.

I have this same issue; but also a little extra thing.
In Windows 10 you can now quite conveniently change your default output device by just left clicking once on the speaker icon in the tray.

So. I have a pair of headphones (purely USB - there's no 3.5mm jack) - and so I sometimes change between my headphones as the output device, and the speakers (that are on another soundcard). ... Whatever was set to default when the game started, is what the game will stick to even when I change default audio device.*

So I don't personally need an in-game device selector, as I just change it in Windows (though of course it would be handy) - but FFXIV doesn't play well with the changing of default output devices currently.

*Note here... I think that Windows 7 and 8(.1) aren't able to change output device in the same manner as Windows 10 - hence the issue isn't exactly the same here, maybe.... With Windows 7 and 8 - you have to stop all sound (or programs that have made the device 'busy' or 'standby'), before it will change to whatever other sound device you set as default. Whereas Windows 10 just takes the 'flow of data' and slaps it towards the new default sound device even if something's playing at the same time. (Usually)

But with FFXIV; it isn't able to just cut to the other device (though other games are able (well, I haven't tested all games in existence)), so still making me have to quit the game, and start it up again, before it will go on the new default device.

Oh and a little extra thing; if your sound in FFXIV just suddenly disappears... I had an issue maybe a year ago, where I found out that the audiodg.exe process would apparently bug (or FFXIV, not really sure), and there'd be no sound until I would kill the process (it restarts by itself) or restart the game... but restarting the process is faster... Though I guess it's quite likely your issue is not the same, Fynlar. (Either way I forgot since when it stopped doing that, so no idea what a real solution would be)
