I'll be honest and say I looked at guides since starting the game in 2013:
T5, Bismark Ex, Nidhogg Ex, and Thornmarch Ex.

Some people learn better in different ways. Some have it easier time learning a fight from text than from a video via a tank pov (They are ALWAYS tank pov.)

Most of MrHappy's older videos were from a DPS pov, I thought. He does more from a healer pov now though. Mizzteq was kinda bad for this, but she usually includes clips from her friends who also recorded the fight in other roles. And she always tries to include specifics for each role.
I think it'd be best if most guides were viewed from a healer's pov because a healer generally sees more than the other roles, since they don't generally tunnel on one task. But that might be personal buas.

I personally like her videos, because they go into specifics on the mechanics. MyHappy would mention the mechanic, and sometimes talk about different ways of doing it. MTQ mentions the mechanic, then tells you HOW it should be handled. Most of MrHappy's older videos were from a DPS pov, I thought. He does more from a healer pov now though. I usually only watch MTQCapture for my guides. MrHappy's videos are pretty lacking when compared to her's. I agree, she goes into far more detail, and explains specifics for each role and each mechanic.

I remember when Sophia first dropped MrHappy put out a guide that told everyone to stand in the Paladin's AoE. I don't know if he ever fixed it. I've been teaching Sophia whenever I see learning parties up( I'm at 109 clears but I ran into some real jerks back when I was learning Thordan ex and I always want to help teach when I can now) in the PF and I still see people trying to do it that way versus just letting the target turn into a zombie and kiting them back to a safe zone before the first tilts so everyone can move freely.

For one, that is the correct way to do the mechanic. Just because people decided to cheese it doesn't mean guide makers shouldn't explain how it actually works. Regardless, he did say you could cheese and just kite the person around. So people just skipped that part.I remember when Sophia first dropped MrHappy put out a guide that told everyone to stand in the Paladin's AoE. I don't know if he ever fixed it. So it's lazy not having YouTube on hand. Yet, not lazy to just sit curled up in your chair refusing to type a short explanation? You don't have to write them a thesis. Just give the basics. It's an MMO...you're supposed to interact with other people and talk, right? Isn't that the selling point of games like this? Anyways, I'm not sure what level of content you are referring to but you can easily explain dungeons and non-extreme fights quicker than it takes someone to alt-tab or put their controller down and go to YouTube to find the video. This should go without saying and I feel that this has (sadly) become a dead horse, but part of the experience of an MMORPG is the social interaction. Ordering someone to seek outside sources in order to play video games is not very immersive. This has been bugging the hell out of me. If you're gonna make the group spend time walking you through every stage of a fight before we go, why not save us all the time beforehand and just look it up, first? Seriously. I get wanting to go in blind, but this isn't that. It's just laziness!
I'm all for watching a video for Extreme primal fights where the gameplay is a bit more focused and you have the same goals as like-minded people you're going with. Which you should be using Party Finder for anyways. But requiring a video in every other aspect of the game is simply unreasonable.

I just think when you're wiping 5000 times then perhaps it is time to look up a guide of some sort of fashion.
At the end of the day, SE or no one else has put out a rule that you "MUST" look up a guide.
I'ma guide person tbh, I play Single Players with a guide in hand, always. I'm not one to run in blind
but I'm not going to piss on people who. Just think if you go on DF
with a perfect team then be prepared to have your feelings hurt lol.

I'm fine with blind players for everything outside raids and ex primals. Unless the PF specifically says it's learning from the top I think it's fair that everyone be expected to at least have done some research. I had so many people join "final phase Sophia parties" without ever going into the fight prior around launch.
