The New Chat Restriction in The Feast

This should have been the punishment, not a punishment on everyone that plays the game mode.

Like I said, I would have preferred a system of weeding out the bad apples. But I\\\\'m okay with this. And as for those that say there aren\\\\'t enough slots for the new chat commands when using a pad, I have 2 responses:

(1) there is enough. Each class has about 45 to 50ish abilities. I can map them across 4 to 5 cross bars with some skills mapped on the right to allow access via face buttons without losing avatar control. My "default" is on crossbar 6, double cross on 7, quick access (lr and rl) on 8. Crossbar 4 for utility type or certain pvp abilities. Cross bar 3 is used for some jobs but empty on others. Cross bar 5 is for non essential abilities like teleport. Cross bar 1 is for mounts and chocobo commands.

This leaves me AT LESST 2 full cross bars (2 and 3) for chat commmands. Not to mention any empty "left" slots I didn\\\\\\\\'t use because I mapped attacks to the right so I wouldn\\\\\\\\'t need to use the dpad buttons.

So that\\\\\\\\'s 32, maybe even 40 empty slots for chat commands.

So yeah, THERE is enough slots.
(2) there are probably only a handful of chat commands that are actually useful. Of those, not all are universally needed for all job roles. For example, a command to say "target the healer" probably won\\\\\\'t be useful to a person playing a healing job.

(3) SE probably will make improvements to the ui to accomdate the chat commands.

So, the chat commands will work fine

And yeah this isn't a moba. You can't queue as a full team so that pretty much confirms it's never meant to be a hard core competitive mode.

I "feel" there is more verbal abuse and toxicity in western datacenters than there are in non western datacenters. Therefore, this change was warranted.

This WILL eliminate chat abuse. I'm not a healer, but I'm happy those that are won't have to put up with the trash talk.

Although, I would have preferred a streamlined, easy-to-use system of reporting and SEVERELY punishing player verbal abuse.

Those that can't keep their cool and hold their tongue should be tossed out of pvp permanently.

No it won't. People will just find other ways to vent their frustrations, ranging from spamming the new super-useful "Nice job!" macro after you make a mistakes, all the way to creating a character on your server just to flame you.

Seeing the quick chat macros made me think this will just end up like rocket league like you are saying. People will just spam obvious obvious trolls 100x which will be worse than any current issues with free chat because it will flood out anything that could possibly be useful information to your team. And they can't get banned for it sense it's quick chat messages put in by SE themselves. We'll see plenty of unique combinations with these macros made, which unless you are a completely oblivious person you will realize it's an insult aimed at you. I guarantee that every time someone dies that shouldn't have they will get bombarded with "nice job" and every team that loses a match they should not have will get spammed with "good match" until they leave. So ya, enjoy your new "harassment free" feast which will have some form of harassment in 50%+ of matches now compared to maybe 5% at best before.

They are implementing something people can already do, except they are forcing it on people who don't want to.

Censorship has never, and will never, fix anything. This is no exception.

Oh, certainly not. But "fixing" it isn't in the interest of the PvP community, since it would mean removing the mode that causes these troubles in the first place. If you prefer that, feel free to make a petition, but I doubt you'll garner much support.

The alternative? Magically give every rager the mental strength to keep their frustration away from other people. Not realistic either.

Bans are just another form of censorship and thus, no solution according to yourself.

If you got a real solution to the issue that manages to serve the interests of all involved - SE is searching. I personally would just have posted an assortment of anonymous chatlogs from reports, a nice statistic on the report situation, then removed the respective mode and put a single:"This is why you can't have nice things." under the entry. But I'm the nightmare of any PR department.

While I'm at it, I've seen people vote kicked from frontlines by a bunch of @#%*s for not obeying the commands of a few pvp fanatics who think they own the game.

That garbage needs to be purged from this game as well.

PvP requires teamwork and co-operation. if you are not willing to co-operate and listen to a person that offering to command and help the team to victory. then you don't belong in frontlines. you are just going to cause

1. 2nd/3rd place loss
2. you getting carried to a win

Nobody asked for this change. and the fact that there are some people here that are happy that such a action is being taken when they have possibly NEVER dealt with such attitudes ever because they possibly never even gone past Bronze or Silver ranking. makes me really wonder who are the real players that care about PvP and who are the ones that just do it to farm their PvE content.

P.S you can just hide the chat window if you wish not to read it. nobody is forcing you to read it.
