Please revert the change. I can understand why it was implemented, but it's not going to help the way you think it will. We need proper communication, especially in this mode.

Thank you for all of the feedback you have provided in regards to the chat restrictions in The Feast. Please rest assured that we have been sharing your thoughts with the development team and will continue to do so.
At this time, the team is planning on making improvements to the quick chat feature to improve communication. If you have any suggestions for improvements to this feature, including additions of phrases such as "Please recover MP," be sure to let us know!
Range DPS get medals
Melee DPS get medals
Limit medal pick up at 4 stack
Tank be careful
etc...
I like this new chat feature tbh, it keeps the toxic from harassing people.
I was a active Feast player in S1 and S2, I've said things I'm not proud of... I do think the report/GM handling things is broken, I've been to GM jail for calling out a feeder/eso farmer in ranked mode and nothing happened to that healer. I explained the situation and still got punished, GM sided with the healer even though I said the end score he had 0s heals... one of the many reasons I stopped feasting ranks

Remove the restriction. If people can't handle a bit of criticism or others frustration, they have no purpose queuing for the Feast in the first place.
The last thing the team should have thought was acceptable was to remove the only means of coming up with strategy in a team based game.
"Toxic" is an excuse that is used to show one's personal inability to handle the things said to them. Responding negatively and taking things to heart is a choice, believing someone wants you to actually have any of what they have said to you happen is a choice, just like the people who make the comments choose to say them.
People need to choose to not let it get to them and to actually act mature enough to understand that people like that aren't worth their time.
This is not something the development team can fix, whether they choose to re-add chat or keep it disabled. However, the inconveniences caused by such actions has made the mode worse for the vast majority of players who did not act this way or speak in such a manner. Punishing the majority for the actions of the few is simply unacceptable.

The only thing this chat restriction does is give a significant edge to premade groups, even more so if they also have voice communication. In fact the difference is so massive i have seen wipes from premades happen in less than 30 seconds. Considering there's no gear difference since everyone is synced, this disparity comes from organization alone.
Please put back normal chat to give PUG groups a chance against premades, PvP is supposed to be a group effort not a mindless blowout.
i don't agree with the change but what is this complaint even? you either queue solo or in a group, against other solo queuers or against other grouped players. there's ton of issues but there's no situation in ranked feast where premades are beating up randoms. or are you not talking about ranked feast? The only thing this chat restriction does is give a significant edge to premade groups, even more so if they also have voice communication. also it's kind of disingenuous to say pvp is a 'group effort' and then, you know, complain when that group effort yields results that you don't like.
This implementation is just so many steps backwards it's embarassing. 99% of the community is on the same page here - the quick chat system needs to be removed. I don't think there's anything more to it.Greetings, adventurers.

The worst thing is, the people that wanted this to be implemented aren't even the ones who play Feast often. I guarantee you most of them haven't even played Feast and have just gone by "word of mouth" from other players, or maybe they've played a few matches and given up. There's literally examples of this on the forum itself.
Most need something to blame when things go wrong and as in all PVP everywhere, they've chosen to blame other players. This doesn't mean you have to cover the ears of the sensitive players and whisper sweet macros into their ears to make them feel better. Punish the players who are flaming, being toxic etc instead of punishing everyone for a minority few.
100% false. Did you play during patch 2.2? There was a relic step called the "atma grind". It was horrid, and unfortunately it paved the way for what we know today as relic weapon content. Before atma, the relic quest was very enjoyable, and moderately challenging. However, SE decided to turn it into a soul-sucking boring grind which had the player grinding old, low level content (which they'd already done hundreds of times).
After the first time (Atma) there was a near unanimous outcry from the player base. The players HATED the atma grind. The content was not enjoyable, the grind was frustrating, and the reward was lackluster (essentially glamour for most people.)
What did SE do? Well, they took this wildly negative feedback and...Just kept doing it. They recycled this same garbage over and over, somehow finding ways to make it worse during some of its iterations.
Bottom line, there has been many cases where there is a near-unanimous opinion expressed by the community, and SE tends to either ignore the issue or do the literal opposite. This is one of those cases with the Chat removal.

You cannot change your class in the Feast mode where the chat restriction is actually a restriction and a hindrance, ranked. 8v8 had the class restriction, but it was lifted in a previous patch, probably in as an attempt to at least make 8v8 pop at least once a month.

The more tight knit community is using voice chat if they get into games together. It makes solo queue games super unfair tbh.i don't agree with the change but what is this complaint even? you either queue solo or in a group, against other solo queuers or against other grouped players. there's ton of issues but there's no situation in ranked feast where premades are beating up randoms. or are you not talking about ranked feast?

The most common issues I've had:
1) No way to warn the team about particularly strong opponents. Instruction like "Stop xxx" is unclear and not specific. It prevents more experienced players from sharing their knowledge.
2) No way to remind players who forget about stances. Additionally, there is no way to ask someone to switch stance.
3) Can't alert the team to planned actions, such as Attune or LB, or to request assistance.
4) No way to tell people to stop picking up medals or to specify who should be picking up medals.
5) Generally, not being able to tell specific people to do specific things.
Because the changes would require too many additional buttons, some alternative options would be to make auto-translate available or to make free chat available during the planning period. If the intent was to limit toxic interactions, there's also a lot of merit behind utilizing muting as a punishment, similar to DF lockout.
