I play on PC, but I use a controller in addition to a keyboard. I have and don't use (in-game) my mouse. I started as a healer in FFXI and was recruited to a HNM LS (BG on Bahamut), so I'm fine with healing quickly, the targeting for healing is the same to me. I do remember holding impromptu contests of speed in FFXI, who could remove the status effect the quickest, and definitely remember a contest with more than one WHM removing paralyze from the tank at Hakutaku. I definitely remember winning that.

Targeting and healing in a hectic raid environment (targets both in and out of party) is doable, but you need to be able to shortcut to the person you intend to target. You do this by simultaneously selecting yourself and spinning the camera towards your target, then pressing left or right on the d-pad to select them. You can do this while running or casting another spell, and it is very fast. Targets in your own party are also available to be selected by pressing up or down on the d-pad, again, this is always available, allowing you to pre-select your target.

I know there are certain advantages to keyboard/mouse, being an increased number of available keys/combinations to translate to actions, but there are always limiting factors (cast times, GCDs, etc) that minimize how quickly you can input a command. Another advantage is mouse-over targeting, which (imo) doesn't have a direct translation for controller users. Still, you can abuse the aforementioned limiting factors to give you the time needed to subtarget

I find keyboard/mouse to be limiting in movement. WASD movement is less fluid than analog. Using both keyboard and mouse with camera controls to mimic analog controls, to me, is clunky. Perhaps I just don't know the necessary shortcuts to abuse keyboard/mouse like I do with a controller, I just see so much awkward angular movement (that I interpret as WASD movement [or numpad????]). It just seems like controllers users can abuse the ease of precise movement to allow for more options, whereas keyboard/mouse is requires more inputs.

But it's probably just because I'm left-handed and everything is different.

I always tought that Legacy movement was meant to mimic analog controls. Tryed it once and found out that i simply cannot play with it as 10years of WASD+Mouse is just too deep in backbone for me.

In 72 Frontline you see that NIN running away behind his teammates with 5% HP left? With mouse/keyboard you just click on him and finish him off with ranged skill. On controller, by the time you cycle through 10 people of front of him (because the game prioritizes closest targets first) he's either already healed or killed by other people or run too far away. Happens literally every match, so many missed kills (and in The Feast too) because of these disadvantages.

    This is annoying.

That's why any decent shooter has separate servers for console and PC players.

Even if you use different pages for your cross bar its still slower and clunkier flipping them to get to your desired ability than it is for mouse + keyboard users. Not to mention players using third party tools for things like enemy buff and DR callouts. Yeah, console users are totally on a level playing field with their pc counterparts.
My bad, I thought this topic was about chat commands in Feast, not Frontlines.

Clearly you have no idea what you're on about and haven't even seen the wealth of options for controller so I'll keep you thinking you're superior to console/controller.

This. All of this. Quick, just need one hit... (game auto-targets you on Ifrit). Oh fml, SE. Stop making pets targetable as enemies is FL. Your "filters" are crap.

You can, yes, but you have to re-configure all of your settings. The interface for console is not set up the same way as it is on PC, so practically everything has to be adjusted. Most of it is pretty straight forward, like re-configuring your HuD or re-building all your hotbars from the ground up, but some of the nitty-gritty details can be a pain to deal with. You basically have to go through all your system configurations to make sure the shortcuts and command keys swapped over properly.

The bigger problem is creating a system ping. Ps4 is designed to work with a Ps4 controller, not a keyboard and mouse. You can hook them up, but the console configuration is not designed for a foreign control input. Sometimes it can cause an in-game ping between when you push a button and when the action is actually initiated (like when you're typing faster than the buffer on your system can keep up with). It can cause some serious in-game problems, and it can take a lot of adjustments to iron out. You basically have to strike a balance between your console system configurations and your in-game system configurations. I've known some people who have swapped over with no issues whatsoever, and I've known some who spent hours sorting out their settings just to get it right.

The thing is, though, most console players just don't want to swap, even if they could. I myself am very comfortable with a controller in hand, and I find an advantage in moving my character with analog sticks rather than keys and a mouse. It just feels more natural. That said, I have no misconseptinos over the fact that point and click is still faster when targeting. In some games, it's also faster for pivot maneuvers, although I don't know if that's a thing in FFxiv.

The post I was responding to he was speaking of pvp in general learn to read. You can keep on deluding yourself if you want to believe console users are exactly on level with their PC counterparts I don't care either way. If you choose to remain ignorant on their differences it has nothing to do with me. Just like you ignorantly assuming what platform I use doesn't affect me either. I have used controller on my pc and while SE has done an admirable job in providing many options for them it's still inferior to keyboard and mouse. They are different controlling schemes and therefore inherently unequal.

I'm being a bit fecetious, but it sounds to me then, like the individual skill of the player is the X factor then. If I'm using an inferior control scheme, but capable of outplaying someone using a better one, then could it not be said that perhaps I simply have a deeper level of skill or strategy? I mean, I doubt it's so black and white, but if we're dealing in absolutes such as mentioned before, then console players that perform to a more successful degree perhaps play at a higher skill level for overcoming an inherent handicap?

(Rhetoric aside, I'm fully aware the real X factor is simply comfort/proficiency with your control medium of choice, strong knowledge of your job and the job of an opponent, and good battle awareness.)
