Past level 50 PLD Tank help.

Hi guys I know there are a lot of tanks in this forum and I was hoping I could get some advice.

I'm level 50 PLD tank and for some reason I am very scared to take this job past level 50 when it comes to doing dungeons. Don't get me wrong I love being a tank I'm just scared to take the Job past that doing dungeons.

What should I do to get past this?

Maybe check if there are similar discussions or something helpful to you on the tank forums.

Whats your main issues with take it past 50? Is it keeping aggro? Or worried that someone will tell you to mass pull yet you don't want to do it?

Go in with friends there is no different in LV50+ dungeons then low level dungeons that you haven't encountered already at this point.

If it's keeping aggro that worries you gear up using poetics and upgrade them to 130. That should see you nice to the LV59 dungeon.

But seriously just do it. As long as your gear is up to scratch you'll have no issue holding aggro.

To add onto that, Circle of scorns helps keep aggro but even more so when pop fight or flight then COS straight after since COS CD would have rested with FOF still in effect.

So it's idealy to do a Shield to get the mobs attention, once there all close, flash, FOF+COS then aggro shouldn't be a issue.

The biggest changes post 50 are to your rotation. You actually have more options than 1-2-3 (barely)! Goring Blade is a combo off of Riot Blade that does a DoT. Royal Authority is a combo off of Savage Blade that has no enmity multiplier but has a billion potency. For bosses and whatnot, after you establish threat with RoH, you want to Goring, Royal, Royal, repeat. At this point, Rage of Halone is only used in your opener or if you have a crazy geared BLM without Quelling Strikes.

Pretty much for any tank that is scared, I think its a good idea to go with friends or FC if your in one. Usually more encouraging and its how I got over the fear of tanking.

This'll sound a little glib, but as a fellow 50 PLD in freshly minted job quest gear - just do it. I've found that if you just let people know at the beginning of the run what to expect they are generally supportive. The sprout icon helps a lot, too. "Hello! I'm new, so please feel free to tell me anything I need to know or need to improve. Thanks!" is my usual beginning-of-run speech (with minor variations). Worst case is someone bails on you, but in that case they did you a favor. Tank on!
