I see what you guys did. Everyone was making their loldrg or floor-tank comments. You were just sitting back and laughing. DRG is SO much fun to play! I started playing this game as a pld main then took smn as my dps alt. Now, think about those two jobs compared to a DRG. I never wanted to touch DRG in 2.0 because i saw a vid on a standard opener for DRG. It was something like 26 buttons for an opener.....NOPE! Yoshi said SB would be mnk focused, so i thought maybe i should lvl mnk. Well mnk needs BfB so I decided to lvl DRG first.....now I'm hooked.
I took my DRG into PotD and just kept going until 60, and it only took like 4 days. I'm 2 weeks into DRG so I'm not a pro just yet but I am researching my job rotations and what not. There are only 2 positional on flank and 2 on the rear. They also come at logical steps in a rotation so its not that bad, i just have to get used to it. I don't use GS as much as i should cause I don't want BotD to fall off, but I'm getting there. The animation lock is annoying at times but that can be overcome with time and knowledge of the mechanics (when to use, when not to).
Since it's fresh in my mind there are a couple of changes I would personally make, to make it a little easier for players new to the job. First off, I would keep the positionals. It adds to the charm of the job. However I would like it if the 4th combo WS were not random. Like Chaos Thrust always proced Wheeling Thrust, both are rear attacks. I would also like Heavy thrust to replace True Thrust as the combo opener. It would be one less button to press and if you are following your standard rotation you would still be keeping it up. Then of course Full Thrust would proc Fang and Claw. You should also be able to extended BotD to 45 sec instead of 30.
As for my personal changes to DRG, I would change how the jumps work. I absolutely fell in love with Elusive Jump, I would like for it to be on a 10 sec cooldown AND have a mechanic where if you target someone it jumps to them but if no one is targeted it does the back flip. I would also like the jumps reworked to deal damage based on distance from target. So you deal more damage if you use elusive jump first. I would also like Jump to stay at the target instead of returning me to my original position. With elusive on a 10 sec recast you could still get in and out as needed.
Like I said I'm still new and these suggestion probably wont carry much weight. But how fun would it be to constantly be jumping around and dealing bonus damage because of it. Not like the 2.0 brds but in a "cool" way. I would lose my shit if those changes were made. Sorry guys, the secret is out, and I may never change jobs again. I'd mine with my spear if i could.
