When I last played WoW, there was a skill check before raiding. You had to clear these really basic trials, basically proving that you can DPS/Tank/Heal at at least some sort of level. Wanna know what happened? The players who couldn't be bothered to improve to beat these trials complained until they were no longer required. Lots of players were thrilled about the barrier of entry, because it meant PUGs were better on average. But, everyone else proved that they would rather be lead bricks in group content than learn to play better. MMO communities are just the worst.

Isn't that why developers give varying difficulties on different content types so players can select the challenge that suits them most?
I'm not getting the OP... At all.

What do you expect when a challenge comes up and the community cries nerf?

The majority of the community don't even know their rotation or refuse to simply do it due to laziness (looking at the Netflix and dungeon players).
Edit: Just read the thread 'i am not mass pull tank' below to simply guise what a large portion of the player database entail to be acceptable when it absolutely isn't.

That sounds nice. With how FF XIV works they could differnt checks for differnt type of content too, they just simply tie it to the quests which unlocks the raid/ex/hard

yeah but like others mentioned maybe the player thinks he is suited for a difficultie and wasting other people time while he isnt. Or is a mechanism in place that prevents the tank who can not even hold aggro to queue in in the more difficult content?

Tell them to "git gud." Jokes aside, that is actually what happened when Weeping City first released. After the devs flat out refused to nerf it, people sucked it up because the rewards were good.

People don't know their rotation because outside EX Primals and Savage, there is absolutely no content that requires one. I can Impulse Drive through Xelphatol and have no trouble whatsoever. If I did small pulls as a tank, the healer literally could /sit and I'll never come close to dying. You have to give people a reason to improve. If what they're doing proves effective, they have no incentive to get better. The often cited Dark Souls isn't extremely difficult. It simply demands you play beyond smashing the attack button and learn from your mistakes.

Personally, I see challenges as staying just that. Challenges. Keep it the hell away from the MSQ and general normal content. When I do a fetch quest, Duty, or story dungeon, I like just doing my job and relaxing. Doing math, Active Time events, and talking with a team that doesn't even speak English- no thank you. Keep that behind some pearly gate for people who want to stress themselves over an mmo.

However i also did titan "hard" couple weeks ago and basiacly i was dead because jumped derply (i must stop this) but got hard carried because there was simply nothing to the fight. And this happend recently in a couple of heavensward dungeons too. Also i was couple of times in the duty finder and i pulled aggro from the main tank and off tank several times lol, despite the tanks having 100 more itemlevels.

People talk about challange but essantialy people not even know how to do their jobs

I had multiple failed parties in the Haunted House Halloween event of all things because of this.

I have 0 expectations that SE might expand the language support but I have asked native speaker friends who to translate game things for me before.
I do believe when you play this game and they tell your the Languages given, you should be readily expected to understand some English or any other language given.
Steps, honestly, you do not need to talk at all, you could read what the NPC's are saying. They don't say anything that can confuse you.

I wouldn't call this game casual friendly. I would call it "timesink-friendly". Basically, as long as I know how to play my class right, I don't have to commit to memory ANYTHING this game throws at me, save raids and savage.

You know what I ran today? Lost city of Amdapor. Wanna know when was the last time I ran it? Three months ago. I didn't remember a single thing the bosses did. Just simply reacted to the mechs that was thrown at me. You could say "well that fits the easy category". Well, the run itself was decent but you gotta remember this game has heaps of revisited content that would take time to remember them all. You could still wipe dgns if you don't pay attention but at the same time, the devs made it so you don't have to spend time learning the place like it was a megaman level.

Lot of stuff does need a boost in difficulty in the game, doesn't need a big more to become super hard but it could be raised up from what is pretty much facepalm easy.
