It says I'm too low level to make any topics in feedback/suggestion forum. My suggestion have nothing to do with game knowledge/experience. It is simply quality of life change for pc players that everyone would love to have it.
I'm disappointed..

The reason is because there are restrictions on the forum to how many posts you can make a day and how many new threads you can create, which are all based on your in-game character's level. The posting restrictions and the levels they lessen can be found here. According to the posting restrictions thread, you still need another 4 levels or so before you can create a thread.
As for why SE has these restrictions in the first place, it was because back on the Beta test forum in 2013 when the game was still in development a large amount of new testers joined who were a little too zealous in their posting, spamming the Beta forum to hell and back with useless threads, and added even more stringent posting restrictions there to try and bring order to the chaos. Presumably hoping to avoid a repeat of that here on the official forum SE decided to implement similar restrictions here.
Unfortunately there isn't really much that can be done other than as you level in the game restrictions to how many posts you are allowed, how many threads you can create and where you can post here on the forum will gradually lessened or removed.
Thank you for your response.
You could always ask about the thing you're suggesting here then if a veteran agrees they can make a topic on your behalf with the idea
Or it might even be something that has been suggested before, and other people can help with alternative solutions (depending on what it is).
I'll level up my character and post it myself, but if put it briefly, anyone who have played Guild Wars 2 knows how hidden npc/player names works in the game. I would love to have same system in ff14. I don't like to see name tags all over my screen. Also a keybind for showing npc/player names would be also nice.
It's not hard to implement this into a game and it would be nice quality of life feature.
There's a lot of options under: Character Configuration -> Display Name Settings
I don't know whether they're the options you want or not, but you can have names show all the time, never, or only when they're targeted. You can choose the color font used for different categories of names. These settings can be specific to party members, friends, other players, NPCs, pets, minions, mobs, and so on. In the case of players, you can have their names displayed either spelled out or as initials, and you can choose whether to include their titles or not.
I don't believe there's a keybind for it, though. I agree that would be nice. I usually have player names shown, but sometimes when doing something (like S rank hunt or Odin FATE) that draws a really big crowd, I want to temporarily turn them all off, and then afterwards back to my normal settings. It's a little cumbersome to go into the configuration menu and search out party member name settings, and friend name settings, and other player name settings to switch them all off, then later do it again to turn them back on. It'd be nice to have a simple way to toggle between all names off or using our regular settings from that Display Name Settings page of Character Configuration.
Another improvement I'd like to see is an option on whether to show FC tags along with player names or not. Currently, if you have a name shown at all (even as initials) and that player is in an FC, then you're going to get their FC tag as well. The only way to turn off the FC tag is to turn off the name. I rarely have any interest in what FCs other players are in unless they're in my own, so I'd really like a way to turn off FC tags and just see the names. Perhaps a three-way setting: Show FC Tags With All Names / Show FC Tags Only For My FC / Never Show FC Tags

Yeah, you can totally turn nameplates off.
You can also send suggestions directly to Square via the Support Desk in game, although it sounds like posting here so we could tell you that you can already turn nameplates off was the win this time anyway.
I have made small video to demonstrate what I mean.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PcLe3qrY0IY
At first it shows all nameplates on. After I turn them off, you will notice that I can see nearest targets nameplate simple by looking at them. Also I can hover my mouse over the target and see their nameplate. At the end I'm demonstrating the key which shows all ally's nameplates while holding the key down.
@Niwashi
I have gone through all the options. Yes, It would be nice to have more options.
Btw, what is FC tag you speak of?
@EveK
Turning nameplates off is not helpful at all. I have checked every single option in the game, so that is not an issue.

A FC tag is the abbreviation or set of letters in '< >' brackets some players have at the end of their names - this identifies them as belonging to a Free Company or 'FC' (a FC is a player Guild), with the letters being an abbreviation for that FC's name (which is decided by the player who founded that FC). For instance, my character has the tag '<JZ>' at the end of her name, because that is the tag for 'JingZen', the FC I co-run with my boyfriend. Simple really.![]()
Okay, I think I see what you mean. It sounds like you're suggesting two enhancements:
1. Allow exactly one hidden nameplate to dynamically appear when your character is facing the associated entity and it's within a certain distance.
2. Show any hidden nameplate when you hover the mouse pointer over its associated entity.
They sound like good options. =)
