I am all for this, i for one look at the DoL/DOH jobs as my main jobs, would be good to be able to progress them to cap.

Dont get me wrong i like the storyline but with the limited time i have online these days i would to do the parts of the game i enjoy.

So i support the jump potion.

So according to what I've read online and recent Mr. Happy video, there are two potions. One to skip the story up to 3.0, and another to start at level 50.

OK... But most players hit 50 and are in HW before their green leafs disappear. Yet, this is simply too slow?

I'm not against jump potions, but I also don't want a PLD jumper in Brayflox HM with me without any clue how to generate enmity. I am, and always will be of the belief that you need to earn your first 50.

Wanna skip the story, fine. Just get ready to run a lot of dungeons.

Has any of you went through the MSQ from start to finish recently? It's a pain in the ass. The whole time you just want to get it done so you want to do the actual fun stuff.

I was intially against the jump potion but yeah 2.0 story was horrible, I'm just gonna repeat what I said in other threads but delievering wine and cheese for some stupid banquet back and forth for 4-5 quests is not Final Fantasy, it's the worst part of the game and is in my top 10 worst video game experiences, even if there's context behind it I don't care, it wasn't fun, opinions are subjective but the titan questline is OBJECTIVELY not fun. If I wanted pointless filler I'd watch Naruto.

I've done the MSQ on 2 different characters now. The 2.x story had a few moments while progressing through it but it's tedious and full of too many fetch quests. It wasn't until you hit the finale of 2.0 that it actually got good. They did so much better with the pacing in Heavensward because I had a lot more fun re-doing HW a second time than I did with ARR.

Yes, i decided to create a new character after coming back from a 2 years break. Compared to HW the pacing in ARR while questing is too weird, the fun and interesting moments are very far from each other and sometimes the filler quests drags on way too long like that elemental crystal quests before Garuda. Honestly it only gets better around patch 2.2. The pacing in HW is also better, i can say for sure i enjoyed questing in HW way more than ARR.

I think there will be a few cases where a new player tries to start playing normally but end up buying a story jump potion midway because of that.

I'm currently at The Steps of Faith, and don't share your view. I admit some of ARR and Astral Era are indeed tedious, but I enjoyed most of it and it wasn't a pain because I didn't grind out MSQs trying to get to HW asap, and instead did other things while progressing it gradually. Not everything I find fun in this game is locked behind the MSQ. In fact, if I posted a pie chart of where my time is spent, only a small fraction of it would be allocated towards the MSQ. There is just SO much to do in this game other than grinding tomes for gear and story content.

However, my idea of fun differs from most players. I am all about the journey. Not the destination. I only get to experience this game the first time, one time and I'll be damned if I take that for granted.

I'm not against jump potions because I am well aware that this mindset is not common with today's gamers, and that this is a busine$$. I've done the quick progression before to catch up with friends, and it is indeed really fun grouping with buddies. But there is almost nothing more fun than tandem noobness with a partner or static. I know this is not always possible.

I've played enough MMOs to know that at one point or another, you retire from it. All that grinding, all those bosses, all those raids, all those quests, achievements, mounts... everything. They stay with the game. What you do take with you are the memories. From running around Ul'dah like a chocobo without a head, to being another victim to landslide, to all those laughable derps and wipes, to marriage ceremonies, events, HQing your first 3-star, staring at your character for a half hour because of your new glams, and Midgarsormr's voice making your panties drop, just all those freakin feels. The more you experience, the more you take with you when you're done.

However I feel like I'm not alone with my critique that the base games story was a bit too bloated with fluff and fetch quests and SE should consider trimming the fat one day. Is it really necessary to run back and for between various towns and vesper bay for several Quests in a row just to deliver an item and/or talk to one npc? Stuff like that are where most peoples complaints lie.

There was at least one patch of the 2.xx series (I can't recall the specific one) that was pretty much nothing but running back and forth talking to various npc's for the entire duration of the patch content.

I mean I've seen a lot of Healers in Lv.60 content not know the basics of healing as well. If a player wants to learn the game and be good at it then they will do so.
