The "MAIN" part of the game is completely subjective to the player.
The "MAIN" part of the game for me is PvP. It's pretty much what I play for and what I do. Is it for you? Probably not, since you sort of implied that the story/MSQ was.
Perhaps I should say the MAJORITY or the BULK of the content instead. I personally might actually be a dungeons/raiding kind of guy...I mean, when I get to the raids.
I don't see a problem with skipping a majority of the content if someone finds it boring. Me, I love PvP, I have a sub I pay monthly, that's more money for SE. I think if I was just coming in now and was gated behind 2.0 and 3.0 before I could get to PvP, I'd probably lose interest with how much content I'd have to go through before even trying PvP. This is similar for people who want to end game raid. In the end, subs matter, whether or not they're subbed for story, raiding, pvp, crafting, rp, or whatever. More accessibility to things that can get people hooked on the game is better.
