I leveled Dark Knight-- my first tank in an MMO ever -- through beast tribes, potd and very occasional roulettes. Two weeks after, I took it into Sophia EX and cleared. How? I thoroughly went through guides online and practiced. I already knew a good portion of the mechanics before even jumping in. Dragoon? Took it to 52 in a single day and went through all the EX Primals. I'll thank Dervy for his excellent rotation tips. Someone who skipped leveling with a potion has access to the same youtube content I did. If they're genuinely interested, they'll make use of it or ask veteran players questions. Those who aren't, would never bother to get better regardless of the restriction. I came across a Scholar the other day still wearing the Friendship Circuit/Brand New Ring in Ravana. He didn't even summon his faerie. When I called him out on it, he blamed the DPS and claimed to have a level 60 Paladin. This is a player who went through the story and just didn't care. A skip potion wouldn't have changed anything, since he obviously had no interest on getting better.

A jump potion caters to people who are not brand new to MMOs, which the earlier portion of FFXIV tends to assume. They simply want to reach the endgame or play with friends. Your enjoyment of the story or gameplay won't be tarnished because someone you don't even know decided, "hey, this is kinda boring. I'll skip it and just play endgame."

Actually, it does. They have already implemented this in the Chinese/Korean versions. All ARR jobs are listed on their Mogstation, you pick one and it's jumped to lvl 50-- all quests associated with it flagged as "complete."
