Now, when we started the game at 2.0, we had no problem to understand the "lack" of content in a very young game. Start the game after 4 years, and if you burn through the latest expansion because it's the only thing that would actually offer progress, you'll just feel ripped off by the game.
You say that as if it's the game's fault that you purchased the potion. The potion is there for those who wish to skip the story of 1-60, whether you want to do that and reap the consequences/rewards is up to the individual, not the game.

I said that too, and then I got people on my back saying not everyone will go for it. But honestly, it depends on how it's priced. Too expensive and not many will go for it, too cheap and well... that's not a bad thing for SE since the sales will be through the roof.

As if complainers would be honest enough to react that way

Considering the mere idea of a jumping potion comes from "Oh, but new players won't be able to do endgame right away, and they might feel the pressure of having to burn quickly", I'm sure everyone who didn't already reach the end of 3.x when 4.0 starts will buy a potion. Especially if that can "skip" a month grinding your way to 60.

Well, it's a double edged sword when it comes to jumping potions: one one hand, you have level 60s and loads of people playing the game, on the other hand, you have people who don't know their rotations/skills and people complaining about that. Which is why it's being taken into consideration but not 100% guaranteed to be in yet, and I kind of have to agree. But it does cut out the middleman: which is the arduously long EXP and MSQ sequence.

I can't imagine a jump potion would provide anyone with their job stone and actions considering those are tied to quests, expect to see people in lv.60 base classes.

What is necessary is to fix the leveling and the MSQ process for ALL new players, not only those who want to pay an extra. The jumping potion can't be a band aid fix for flawed design.

Indeed, it really doesn't matter if they add these or not, the journey as it is, still must be sorted for the good of the game, its an ugly hamfisted mess at the moment that's only going to get worse, and cant be left as it is.
I just hope the powers that be realise this and are working on fixing it for 4.0.

That's not true at all. Other players are required for content throughout much of the MSQ's.

A lot of group content is also unlocked fairly added on. There's POTD and The Gold Saucer.

You know, some communities like the Japanese one like to compile everything to one thread. NA community likes to make 5-6 topics of the same thing every day.

So I guess I should expect about 5-6 threads a day with the same message and people giving their opinions.

Would ask people to be more organized if you want the developer's attention, but I do not favor abusing a dead animal's corpse.

It really feels too early in FFXIV's life for a level/story jump potion to be added... How old was WoW when they got theirs? Ten years old? Even more?

On the other hand, FFXIV has the unfortunate tendency to lock away just about everything behind its Main Scenario questline. Does WoW do this as well? Or can you dive right into the latest raids as soon as you chug it (for better or for worse)?

I don't think that level jump potions are the solution. I think that the solution is to NOT lock all of endgame behind MSQ completion. Provide endgame options that can be accessed right out of the box, and let players enjoy those while they progress through MSQ at their leisure. Remove the PRESSURE behind MSQ; don't make it an obstacle, as it is now.

So, when does the scarlet letter go away? Even if they're bad when they first ding 60, they're probably not going to stay bad.

I leveled Dark Knight-- my first tank in an MMO ever -- through beast tribes, potd and very occasional roulettes. Two weeks after, I took it into Sophia EX and cleared. How? I thoroughly went through guides online and practiced. I already knew a good portion of the mechanics before even jumping in. Dragoon? Took it to 52 in a single day and went through all the EX Primals. I'll thank Dervy for his excellent rotation tips. Someone who skipped leveling with a potion has access to the same youtube content I did. If they're genuinely interested, they'll make use of it or ask veteran players questions. Those who aren't, would never bother to get better regardless of the restriction. I came across a Scholar the other day still wearing the Friendship Circuit/Brand New Ring in Ravana. He didn't even summon his faerie. When I called him out on it, he blamed the DPS and claimed to have a level 60 Paladin. This is a player who went through the story and just didn't care. A skip potion wouldn't have changed anything, since he obviously had no interest on getting better.

A jump potion caters to people who are not brand new to MMOs, which the earlier portion of FFXIV tends to assume. They simply want to reach the endgame or play with friends. Your enjoyment of the story or gameplay won't be tarnished because someone you don't even know decided, "hey, this is kinda boring. I'll skip it and just play endgame."

Actually, it does. They have already implemented this in the Chinese/Korean versions. All ARR jobs are listed on their Mogstation, you pick one and it's jumped to lvl 50-- all quests associated with it flagged as "complete."
