[Mac] Unable to download patch files [30413][20496]

I just bought the Mac client and downloaded the client from here:
"Please Reinstall the Mac Version of FINAL FANTASY XIV"

I start the launcher and log in, then it starts to download updates. It gets about 700megs in and stops with the error:

FFXIV Launcher Error
Unable to download patch files.
[30413][20496]

Clicking OK closes the launcher, but it won't re-launch because a zombie process is left. The only way I can try again is to open Activity Monitor and kill the process. Sometimes it doesn't leave the zombie process if I wait a while.

I'm using macOS Sierra (ver 10.12.1).

I've tried multiple times in the past few days and it still hasn't worked. My trial days are counting down and I still can't play on this machine!

I am sorry that you have not been able to install it. I've been running it fine for over a year now (since they fixed it). However, I couldn't run it all of a sudden today. It is so odd as I was on it and playing yesterday. I'm going to try to download link you provided and see if it at least gets me to the launcher.

How many more of these threads do we need before Square realizes here is someting seriously wrong with the patch process? I dread the day 3.5 arrives because I know I'm going to see this same issue again. And shame on SE for blaming the ISPs, everything else downloads perfectly fine on my network.

Good news: I got it to work.

First, I suspect it was my wireless router crashing. Other people on this router have mentioned trouble updating Windows or doing other large transfers. I bypassed my router by using an ethernet adapter.

Second, I kept retrying and noticed that the data left to download was going down. Here's what I wrote down:

690MB of ????
2333 of 12163MB errors: [30413][20496] then [30437]
359MB of 9968MB errors: [30413][20496]
1337MB of 9968MB errors:[30413][20496] then [30437]
last run completed

So you can see something was working each try through.

Once all the updates finished, the game ran fine.

So if you're getting these update errors, keep trying!
