lol, that's your problem then because unless the DPS is afk, no dungeon should take as long as 30 minutes even if the tank is only doing basic single pack pulls.

I don't think it's a problem for most people who do that... I've left some "bad" groups before and purposely taken the penalty since I'd rather do something else, or just not play at all, as opposed to running in a frustrating group. As has been mentioned previously in this thread, the time itself doesn't matter as much as the fun I'm having within a that timeframe.
This is my theme song~

I see the problem OP. You are playing paladin instead of warrior or dark knight.

I don't understand the "IF A TANK IS SLOW, I'LL SPAM X/NOT DPS!" like...you're wasting your own damn time lol.
Also, it's dumb because it's not like the tank isn't doing their job. They're just pulling one mob less....
You'll just earn yourself a free kick and a longer queue. Relax guys. Not the end if the world.
P.S. ex dungeons aren't even fun to begin with... I'm sure you can put up with an additional "unfun" run in this grindy game for a few minutes. Or...yknow....run with friends.
As a dragoon, I prefer when the tank does single pulls. When fighting a couple mobs I can use my single target rotation and make the most of my class. In a big pull where not using AoE attacks would be a clear DPS loss I have 3 buttons to press. An AoE jump on a 3 minute cooldown, a circular attack that has to be comboed from a single target positional attack, and a line attack. And both 2 and 3 are hell to pull off right when both the tank and I are running around like headless chickens to avoid all the orange danger areas.

For each DPS class, there's a cut off for when AoE rotation is a DPS gain over your single target rotation. I've noticed a lot of melees don't seem to know their rotations for large pulls or know when it's a gain and when it's still a loss. The key difference is melee have no long term sustainable AoE damage, unlike classes like black mage and summoner. It's also fairly pointless to do AoE rotation in most cases of melee if both melee are not using AoE rotation (or the one has that much better gear that it didn't even matter).
It's not just knowing when it's better to use AoE or Single Target skills, it's that for me the AoE "rotation" is extremely boring since it's just spamming one button and even that can only last so long before I have to fall back into single target attacks that I have to throttle to accomodate for the fact that I have no TP.For each DPS class, there's a cut off for when AoE rotation is a DPS gain over your single target rotation.
