T'was the night before Christmas and all through the hills, not a creature was stirring - ... Save some mischievous lala elves.
Not a stocking did they hang, nor present they leave; I didn't even get any holiday cheese.
I was off nestled all snug in Sastasha while those sneaky lalas made off with my vodka!
That night when I returned all battle scarred and worn, I discovered my sofas rum stained and torn.
And as I shuffled about cleaning their cigars and debris, far off I could hear them chortle with glee, "Merry Christmas to Lalas, But a bah-humbug to thee!"

Growing up, and even well into my adulthood, I spent a lot of Christmases in the mountains of Gatlinburg, TN (and the surrounding Smokey Mountain National Park). Unfortunately, just a week ago, much of that town burnt to the ground in a wildfire. 14 people died in the tragedy, and the place where I connected with nature has been scarred and will remain so for quite some time. The freshwater fish tank, the wooden walls and clay tile floors, the cozy fireplace and rustic oven, and the almost cramped but also luxurious feeling of the apartment are all designed to evoke the feeling of those log cabin getaways.









This last one was taken from inside the fish tank next to the bed. I would've taken some more pictures, but I'm limited to just the four.
