Meeka, The joke of course is I looked at it to just laugh. I mean they really expect people to pay that amount? I saw some servers charge 200-300$ for some gil. Its hilarious.

I mean 1st they gotta annoy us with Tells, then its Party invites and its just one huge ass rip off. Can easily make a mil in a single day as a lowbie gatherer.

It is annoying. Despite me being inside an inn I still got a rmt party invite

The whole invite thing is based on being able to find your character in the player search. This was the same mechanism the RMT sellers used for the /tell processing. The easiest way to stop this is to allow a player to mark themselves not searchable so your name would not show up in the list. Doing this would still allow folks to send invites or /tells when they are near enough to see you or are a friend.

I wonder if it would work......to buy a bunch of gil from an RMT..and then call your CC company to issue a charge back and card cancellation. On one hand it would be amazing to steal from the RMTs for a change, on the other hand you would have cancel your CC and get a new one, and risk having your SE account banned because the best the RMTs can do is report you to SE themselves for buying gil from them. Of course if you had a second account and an FC chest maybe you could launder the gil? Or maybe just let the gil get vaporized with the dummy account for the lols
