There is not enough jail space for all the people who would be affected by this haha.

Also all this bill shows is that America is no longer "the land of the free" as every american says (is it not also in the national anthem?) because this is not what "the land of the free" would ever do.

yes, because a bill pushed by special interest groups that hasn't made it to the floor for a vote, where it will most likely fail proves that the US is no longer free.

try asking China how their internet censorship has pushed companies out of China and sent their economy into ruins

Sadly it won't really matter what we think but rather what the senators and congressmen feel about the subject. Sure we voted for them, but we all know that has a 'questionable' impact on how they vote once they get in office.

If it gets passed it shows the US isnt, because it will open the floodgates for other bills to be passed, like making watching or uploading a video the government doesnt want you to watch illegal, they will beable to find reasons to block atleast 80% of the internet for people in the US if this gets passed even if other bills have to be passed for it but after this providing it gets passed almost any form of internet censorship will beable to be passed, which will mean the US is no longer a free country, if it doesnt get passed then US will be just as free as it is now.

Also alot of people will have heard of it by now and I have never seen people as scared and spamming details about it for people object which to me seems like alot of people are scared it will get passed, I have seen no information so say otherwise I have seen popups about it, and seen people posting on twitter people are scared and that only happens if theres a good chance a controversial law is going to get passed.

    /sigh

even if by some miracle this bill managed to be passed by congress, it's gonna get veto'd by the white house, and this does not nearly have enough support in congress to even remotely come close to having enough votes to overwrite the veto - not to mention the blatant over-reach and vagueness of the language means it won't survive the supreme court even if it gets that far, which it won't.

It's not wrong to be concerned and put in the efforts to make sure this won't pass as a citizen, but worrying about it as if it's already signed into law is tantamount to building a shelter in your basement to hide from the invading alien from mars.

also, twitter is a bad way to judge whether congress will get anything passed :P

It would affect this site in that SE be reliable for anything we post, if we post links to violated content (eg videos with illegal music on), SE become liable XD.

But it is a long shot that it gets passed.

You never know how senitors will vote, but the entire US population is scared that it could get passed, which means something, I will admit I am in the UK, so I dont hear the big picture so I could miss alot but this is the first time I have ever seen publicity like this apart from a presidential election, with the publicity there could be a good chance it will not get passed, but the companies have more power than the goverment because without companies there is no economy and the country goes bankrupt, the music and film industries carry alot of power in the US, so I dont believe even if it fails we have heard the last of it.

    @ Delsus

this is not the first law of its kind to have been proposed, and it won't be the last, and frankly, I haven't seen much of anything to suggest this is anything more than all the other failed attempts before it. The opposition has a better media/awareness campaign going this time, but that's about it.

TBH, if you want something to worry about, the ACTA treaty would be a far better candidate.

A lot has passed as well. Evident on youtube mostly with all the muted music or removed videos, even if in the slightest. Not all propositions are on the same thing, not all have failed. Its building up.
