The entire Idea behind monk makes no sense

Almost all of monks abilities are increased potency from the back, or the flank, typically leading to you constantly punching your opponents from behind. Since when does being punched in the back of the head hurt even CLOSE to as much as being punched in the face? It doesn't. This on top of the fact that for some reason the ninja does more damage from the front out of his stealth attacks? Since when has an assassin wanted to stand in front of his opponent, and since when has a hand to hand combat fighter ever focused on hitting the skull or back of their opponent.
I'm sure my opinion wont be taken into consideration, but Id still like to put it out there. I can understand the "viability" behind a monk attacking from behind in PvE, sure. But not only is it not as viable in PvP, it does not make much sense that a hand to hand combat fighters goal would be to punching someone in the back.
I dont expect PvE to be touched, standing behind a boss is typically better positioning, and it allows monks to reach incredibly high single target dps that many people have fallen in love with. But I feel at least in PvP (considering every player you are up against will have a typical human composition, meaning there are more vitals in the front), the potency of back attacking moves could be swapped to doing more damage from the front, Flank attacks could stay the same, it would still be the same monk, people would just have to get used to the idea that against a human player, you attack the front, which is a pretty easy concept to grasp I feel.
