You can blame the community for whining for classic FF jobs, without taking lore into consideration. Now instead of interesting classes like thaumaturge and pugilist, we're getting generic stuff like black mage and monk.

They could easily have made jobs fit with the lore they had already created. Blame the community for the developers' lack of interest in maintaining the lore they created? Sure, okay, whatever.

No kidding. I see no reason why healing couldn't have been mainly redistributed to the thaumaturges. "Life, death, and the beyond" and all that. Would have been clean, would hardly have damaged the existing lore.
The community bitched about classic FF jobs because the classes in their current state (even now) have ZERO personality, lore or not. You can pile 1,000 more hours into the THM storyline lore-wise if you want, then play the class and feel nothing like one. You don't feel like a badass wielder of life and death, you feel like you just clicked 1, maybe throw in a 3, then 5, and then tossed a regen-based heal.
As a MRD, I have done 3 class-quests all dealing with me being a pirate. Do I have any pirate-style abilities? A couple. Is my armor stylized to look like a pirate? Nope. It's not the names people bitched about, it's the classes themselves. They have no "feel" to what they're supposed to be. Hopefully this upcoming patch will bring in the era where classes "play as intended".
And honestly, AGAIN, why in the heck would I prioritize lore over the game being fixed? Without the current game to play, I wouldn't give a crap about the lore. That's like saying "Oh my GOD, Archer is SO BROKEN...Oh well, at least it's lore is intact." It's a fantasy game. Things can be rewritten and changed.

Insulting people in the counter argument isn't going to change their minds. It will make them stick harder to their opinion regardless of whether or not it's right, and think less of your opinion simply because you insulted them. In essence, if you want to try and change someone's mind, come up with a well thought-out response and don't be a dick.
I don't give a **** about lore, I just want fun.
WHY ISN'T THM GOING TO BE WHITE MAGE? QQ
And I'm sure it will be refined by 2.0 to your liking. Who ever said there won't be lore in the future? It just simply won't be the -exact- same as it is right now. I'd rather the lore be changed and refined now during the "FFXIV Revival" process. Yoshida's team has been having to deal with Tanaka's dead game, and with that..treasure.. came the original lore of a broken game. As a new team, I feel they have a right to change it while they're changing the game into their own.

Just like the rest of the game, the lore is being reworked too. Again Yoshida's vision seems to clash with Tanaka's, so Tanaka's ideas and whatnot are getting the axe. The game is changing drastically, this is no different. With 2.0 I imagine everything will make sense together.
For new players they won't know that the lore has been changed and it'll all make perfect sense to them. Again these changes only seem bad to us because we've been exposed to the old, changing lore already.
