There were two Reptilian options on the poll, Reptilian Beastmen (which is the less humanistic option) and Reptilian Demi-Beastmen (which is the "demonic features such as horns, etc" type).

'Demi' is typically used to mean partially, and when it comes to character designs, characters like Mi'qote and Au'Ra are considered Demi humans, and so they are Demi reptilian/human hybrids.

Got ya, so just a misinterpretation on my part. Makes sense then. ^^

Wouldn't a demi-reptile look more similar to that Silurian race in Doctor Who (Au Ra wish they could pull off the reptile like they do)? If the Au Ra motif was demons, then mammalian makes more sense... or whatever the hell demons fall under.
Goats grow horns, too. Maybe Au Ra are demon goat people :I

I never touched FFXI and I can tell you Mithra lore states males are so rare that they aren't even allowed out of their villages and had close ties with the Tarutaru. Females are abundant and are generally the leaders. Mithra were also purposely designed after jungle cats with their demeanor and skimpy clothing reflecting that nature. FFXIV's Miqo'te have no such lore behind them. Galka basically reincarnate with no recollection of their past life. The misconception that they are asexual is due to a mistranslation in the manual and they are male only. Interestingly enough, Hyur are sociable and promote interaction with the other races, unlike the Hume where they are apathetic toward their own realm's inhabitants. Generally, the bad guys were Hume in FFXI, unlike in FFXIV where we have the Garleans (unsure if they are a mutation of Hyur like the Padjal).Okay, so we going to act like the XIV races (minus AuRa) aren't glaring similar to XI's races...
They're just so radically different.
Tarutaru's are a small, cute race that is slightly geared more towards magic, while Lala are a small, cute race that is slightly geared more towards magic with more proportionate heads.
Mithra's are cat people, Miqo'te are cat people but with less catty-bits.
Galka are a big, strongman-race with tails, Roe are a big, strongman-race without tails. (Granted, I'll give you Galka's asexual reproduction)
While the designs may look similar to a point, Hyur are not Hume. Miqo'te are not Mithra. Roegadyn are not Galka. Tarutaru are not Lalafell. Elvaan are not Elezen. Even if a rabbit- like race were to be implemented, they would still not be Viera. The only reason Viera got mentioned was because it was used an example. It was never a poll asking, "Hey, do you guys want Viera?" No. People misread the question and the misconception spread like wildfire because very few people do their own research. To even have the thread's title be "Viera Should Of Happened" is not only click-baity, but it's highly presumptuous.
I'm just saying. I don't care if Viera are put in or not ultimately.

Speaking of research, look at the name in this image:
I also don't want viera (for so many reasons), but asserting that the devs won't make it viera is silly. yokai from yokai watch don't have the same lore as their game, nor do the classic FF cosplay outfits, but that doesn't mean that SE wouldn't make the race 1) look the same, and 2) have the same name.

Just because there is concept art of something doesn't mean that something is going to be made into anything.
For example:
There is concept art for moogles in FFII. They never appeared in FFII.
There is also concept art for Behemoths that show them sporting wings. They have never had wings.
I personally still stand by that Viera, or bunny-people, will not happen.

Not that I'm supporting Viera; I'm rather neutral about it, but you can scratch the Behemoth with wings off. Has happened in XV now. Unless you meant that towards XIV.Just because there is concept art of something doesn't mean that something is going to be made into anything.

And then FFXV came in and blasted this particular notion to bits.
Oh god, I hate my phones rogue auto correct. :'D That was supposed to be 'partially' not 'particularly'.
