Just like not everyone likes chocobo breeding. Not everyone likes collecting triple triad cards, or even play it. Not everyone likes crafting or gathering, big fishing in particular. Not everyone likes checking the weather all the time to complete the sightseeing log. Not everyone likes PvP. Not everyone likes doing hunts. Not everyone likes raiding. Not everyone enjoys treasure hunting.

See where I'm getting here? There is plenty of content even if the MSQ did not exist at all. And everyone likes different things. So in order to "Get fun" as you say it, some people have to spend hours upon hours doing things they don't enjoy at all - quests. That's exactly the issue why people defend the potion, because those quests are in the way of "play and get fun".
