Listen to music scrolls anywhere in eorzea! (an idea)

Wondering your opinions on this idea.. MP3 type miniature orchestrion in our pocket/key items. Works the same way as the orchestrion menu, selecting the song and shuffle etc however you can listen to your scrolls whilst riding your mounts, going to different cities, just hanging near your fc house etc This idea gives people a chance with no housing/no fc to still be able to use all the scrolls they have collected. Im aware there is a orchestrion in our inn rooms however we are just locked inside a tiny space. I personally would love to go through camp drybone whilst listening to twilight over thanalan with all the background noises and stuff like in 1.0 days. Maybe going into duties, trials etc would just be the original music, but its just an idea, one that i really really like and just wondering your opinions \o/ maybe if enough like it we can get this

While I'd love to be able to listen to any music I want anywhere (who wouldn't?) I do think this has a high chance of compromising the game's soundtrack. If you can always listen to your favorite song, when are you going to listen to the new stuff?

So if they did this, I feel like it would have to be restricted to areas from previous expansions, and then everyone would be mad it wasn't available elsewhere. And people with primal mounts would be annoyed that the music part isn't special anymore. But I don't have any of those so I'm all for it.

Er .. unless you actually LISTEN to the new stuff you'll not actually know if there's something NEW that you like!

Wait, what? I think there is a miscommunication here. I'm saying that if users can use Twilight Over Thanalan all the time, they may never actually hear the 4.0 music. I don't personally care (I just wouldn't do that), but if I were the game designer I'd be very much against giving users the option to completely ignore a large part of the game. That's all I'm saying.

haha yes, same here my friend. well i did say "Maybe going into duties, trials etc would just be the original music, but its just an idea," meaning we would still have the pleasure of listening to all new music in the trials, and dungeons etc, this is lik so we can change the music at mist and lavender beds and south shroud

I suspect most (all?) those who buy the OSTs, like I do (I have the two Before Meteor and one ARR OST, not to mention umpteen other FFXI CDs) listen to them anywhere OTHER than in-game, I really think your fear is groundless.

OP's idea likened it to a music player, so I'd imagine it would be personal.

Of course, as Seig said, you can already do that by flicking on a playlist containing the released soundtrack, so it's kind of a pointless suggestion.
