For the Love of the TWELVE Can We Get a Proper Elemental Wheel?

    Greetings!

Since there has been many posts by the development team about restructuring classes, and much of the structure from the "Tanaka Era" is being replaced, is it possible to get a proper elemental wheel?

The current wheels (there are two) make sense for the most part.

    First: Fire>Ice>Wind>Fire

    Second: Thunder>Water>Earth>Thunder

If I was a developer wishing to simplify my game and make it easier to understand for both new & old, wouldn't it make better sense to have one elemental wheel that encompasses all the elements rather than two separate wheels?

Condense those four chapters in the books the Conjurers guild has into two chapters. One of the chapters should explain the lore behind things and the other should be for explaining one elemental wheel that's proper in nature.

I only say this because if I'm a new player in this game playing BLM, one of the first questions I'm going to ask is "Why in the world does wind extinguish fire?" This is the only kink in the current elemental wheel in game.

Wind feeds fire in most cases (blowing something out with a strong gust aside). When firefighters go to put out a raging wildfire they don't say "Ok break out the leaf blowers!", they use water because fire consumes oxygen (i.e. wind) along with heat in order to burn.

A proper elemental wheel should be one that is standard in most RPGs. MMO fans picking up the game for the first time can relate to the wheel because it's a standard one.

    Fire>Ice>Wind>Earth>Thunder>Water>Fire

If they're restructuring the game, the elemental wheel should also be something that's considered needing to be reworked. A developer response, even if it's the"We'll look into it way down the road," would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

when was the last time you shot the candles out on your birthday with a watergun as opposed to just blowing them out?

    You're serious? not really..

-.- and fireman are used to "blow" the fire out instead to clear the fire with water (besides Co2 fire extinguisher etc.)

or try to blow your camp fire out. i wish you much luck. i think it will even grow.
try it out yourself. simple physics. to slack a fire the best natural element is water... and seriously not wind.. wind causes the fire to spread or to grow.

There are fire extinguishers that uses nitrogen or compressed carbon dioxide. but, let's not bring real life logic to a fantasy logic.

is nitrogen an element (im not talking about elements we know from chemistry)? besides that you use different types of extinguishers for different types of fire.. fire which is caused by oil you do not extinguish with water.. thats true... but a regular fire you sure can extinguish with water.

from the natural elements water, fire, wind etc... the fireman uses water. and not wind
Wind would cause the fire to spread all over and not to be extinguished.
and for big fires you still use water ;D

    watch

and the question is what makes more sense. wind to extinguish fire or water ?

its clear that fire is the opposite of water. fire hardly beats water, but water beats easily fire thats clear.
to make water boil away within a second. you need much much fire, and less water.
the other way around is much easier.. get a fire camp and a bucket of water.

i would see leviathan more in the role to beat ifrit with a tidal wave attack instead of beaten by garuda with a hurricane ^.^ haha

    I know you're being a smartass, but...

You DO know from high school science that the air that you blow from your lungs is carbon dioxide - the same stuff that is used in fire extinguishers to blow out fire, right? CO2 is used to stop fires - that's why you can blow out the candles on your cake.

You also do know that wildfires spread faster because of wind and the oxygen provided by the wind that fuels the fires even more. When was the last time firefighters used a giant fan to take out a fire?

I'll let you figure that one out.
