    For the Love of the TWELVE Can We Get a Proper Elemental Wheel?

    Greetings!

    Since there has been many posts by the development team about restructuring classes, and much of the structure from the "Tanaka Era" is being replaced, is it possible to get a proper elemental wheel?

    The current wheels (there are two) make sense for the most part.

    First: Fire>Ice>Wind>Fire

    Second: Thunder>Water>Earth>Thunder

    If I was a developer wishing to simplify my game and make it easier to understand for both new & old, wouldn't it make better sense to have one elemental wheel that encompasses all the elements rather than two separate wheels?

    Condense those four chapters in the books the Conjurers guild has into two chapters. One of the chapters should explain the lore behind things and the other should be for explaining one elemental wheel that's proper in nature.

    I only say this because if I'm a new player in this game playing BLM, one of the first questions I'm going to ask is "Why in the world does wind extinguish fire?" This is the only kink in the current elemental wheel in game.

    Wind feeds fire in most cases (blowing something out with a strong gust aside). When firefighters go to put out a raging wildfire they don't say "Ok break out the leaf blowers!", they use water because fire consumes oxygen (i.e. wind) along with heat in order to burn.

    A proper elemental wheel should be one that is standard in most RPGs. MMO fans picking up the game for the first time can relate to the wheel because it's a standard one.

    Fire>Ice>Wind>Earth>Thunder>Water>Fire

    If they're restructuring the game, the elemental wheel should also be something that's considered needing to be reworked. A developer response, even if it's the"We'll look into it way down the road," would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

    when was the last time you shot the candles out on your birthday with a watergun as opposed to just blowing them out?

    well isnt it that way?

    thats the way it was in Final Fantasy 11 and is in Final Fantasy 14, too.
    i tried it out myself. (especially on elementals)

    goats for example are stone type and are weaken against wind. fire elementals are weaken against water... so thats the "elemental resistance table" we have in FF14 :

    Fire>Ice>Wind>Earth>Thunder>Water>Fire

    You're serious? not really..

    -.- and fireman are used to "blow" the fire out instead to clear the fire with water (besides Co2 fire extinguisher etc.)

    or try to blow your camp fire out. i wish you much luck. i think it will even grow.
    try it out yourself. simple physics. to slack a fire the best natural element is water... and seriously not wind.. wind causes the fire to spread or to grow.

    I've tried it out, too. It's two separate elemental wheels. Water does nothing to Fire, it's to earth. And wind beats fire (try using water on Amal'jaas, which are actually earth-based--does some good damage).

    To the OP: I like having non-standard things that don't break the game. It has two separate elemental wheels, one Astral and one Umbral. I think it's a nice change and takes literally nothing to get used to.

    true you're right. i dont play FFXIV not right now. maybe i forgot about that ;O ^

    its that way:

    in FFXI the difference was, that Wind beated Earth
    And Water beated fire.

    now its wind -> fire
    and water -> earth

    There are fire extinguishers that uses nitrogen or compressed carbon dioxide. but, let's not bring real life logic to a fantasy logic.
