Considering they said it'd jump to level 60 if ever implemented... I don't think it'll be an issue!

Why would we care how others arrived at their mentor status? I have mentor status on my main because of gathering and crafting. Should those who have a tank/healer/dps be mad about that? Should I be mad at them because I actually have all DOH/DOL at 60?
I am the main, feel free to check my Lodestone to verify anything I have said. No I don't care that there may be people out their that did less "work" than I did and I hope no one cares that they did more "work" than I did.
Im soon to be a mentor of the land and hand myself , and no as long as someone met the mim requirements I wouldn't mind but how is that fair to other mentors that someone can buy a jump potion and skip a quarter of the process.
I doubt you are a Hand/land mentor yourself soon, you need at least level 55 crafter to begin crafting collectables and level 55 gatherer to gather collectables.
And with Arcanist there is already a double standard for leveling, cause Arcanist is DD and Heal in Summoner and Scholar. the real hurdles for beeing mentors are the 1k dungeons, 300 comms or the collectables farming, not the leveling to endlevel...
ok and my gsm and minner are level 58, and its guides upon guides that teach you how to do collectibles so I dont really see your point with that one statement. Are I could go for the battle class one I have 300 plus commendations. So Im not really following you here but ok.I doubt you are a Hand/land mentor yourself soon, you need at least level 55 crafter to begin crafting collectables and level 55 gatherer to gather collectables.

A jump potion isn't going to give someone 1000 instances cleared, 300 commendations, 300 created, nor 300 gathered collectables.
Levelling to 60 is the easiest and least time consuming part of the system so far. SE has made the game so ridiculously easy to level up these days.

Canadane beat me to it. Leveling a single job (or even three jobs!) to 60 is such an unspeakably tiny part of the process of becoming a mentor, it makes me wonder why this thread even exists in the first place. Those 1000 instances and coms will keep you busy on your shortcut-to-60 job long enough that you SHOULD have a decent idea how to play it by the time you actually become a mentor. About the only thing that you'd be less qualified on addressing to newbies is questions directly relating to progressing your character normally (e.g., discussion of faceroll-easy leveling dungeons, best places to get exp, where to go for story quests, etc, etc) - and these are issues which are ALREADY acceptable within the system due to the fact that you can attain mentorship via crafting and gathering instead of focusing on a combat class.
This is not to say that I think jump potions are a good idea - but what affect will they have on the quality of new mentors? Little to none, I'd say.
